We have been asked many times by Outlook Express 4.x and Outlook users why, when they
send email using our stationery the recipient cannot hear the music. We have answered this
on out help page but felt it was important enough to make it very clear about this
particular issue.
For those using an outdated 4.xx version of Outlook Express, we have recommended you
upgrade to Outlook Express 6, which means you also have to download Internet Explorer 6.
We here at Cloudeight have been using 6 versions and find this to be very reliable.
We have over 140,000 on our mail list, and over 88% are using updated version of Outlook
Express.
If you continue to use Outlook 4.72 or lower you will not be able to embed music using our
stationery. You may have seen other sites offering the old version of stationery the
embeds music with your version (4.x) of Outlook Express. The problem with that type of
stationery is:
The old style stationery for 4.72 does
not work correctly
when sent to an Outlook Express 5 or 6 user. It flashes
and when they reply to it the music disappears.
Over 92% of all Outlook Express users have upgraded
So the chances are you will send it to someone
using Outlook Express 5 or 6. Additionally more people are
upgrading everyday.
We had to make a decision on which Outlook
Express version we were going to make our stationery compatible with and do the best we
could with Outlook 98 and the older versions of Outlook Express as well. In other words we
had to compromise. Since, as of this writing, it's impossible to code music for both
Outlook Express 5/6 and Outlook Express 4.72 without receiving an error message in one or
both we opted for the new version, primarily because it's a better email program than 4.72
and because 92% of all users have upgraded. Please note that our stationery can be used
successfully by Outlook Express 5/6 users, Outlook Express 4.72 users, Outlook
users.
If you wish to use our stationery while continuing to use the old version of Outlook
Express or Outlook 98/2000/2002, you will not be able to send sound with your email,
unless you manually edit the coding. If you manually edit the coding and send it to an
Outlook Express 5/6 user they will get an error message when they reply to or forward the
message you sent them. So, we don't recommend modifying the html.
Folks, the solution to this is very simple. Take some time and upgrade to Internet
Explorer 6 and Outlook Express 6. We don't know of anyone who is sorry they upgraded. If
you use Outlook Express 6 our stationery performs magnificently. You will be able to send
sound to all Outlook Express users, regardless of version, and to Outlook
users as well. Plus, they will not get an error message when they forward it or reply to
it.
We apologize to those of you who assumed the
music would work in the old version of Outlook Express and/or Outlook 982000/2002. The
backgrounds do scroll and the stationery looks the same in those versions but you will be
unable to embed the music.

the coming months) please download Internet Explorer 6 and Outlook Express 6 We have
