Geraldine says our "Freeware Of The Week" was a corrupt file!
In Issue 226 you gave a link for "Spyware Terminator" ..... during download there was a pop-up window saying "Spyware Terminator" set up files were corrupt and to please obtain a new copy of the program......not sure what to do here, is it a matter of you supplying another link to this program??? thank you and look forward to my weekly Newsletter

The term 'corrupt' is an unfortunate name for an incomplete download or a file that is not downloaded completely. The name 'corrupt' was obviously conjured up by a politician - isn't that the truth!

Actually corrupt, in this case, is a synonym for "incomplete". When you download a file and get an error that the file is corrupt, it means that during the download process one or more bytes of data were dropped. The size of the file you downloaded does not match the file size on the Web server. Therefore the file is incomplete or "corrupt".

This can happen if you have a poor connection to the Internet, the Web server is extremely busy, or both. The solution is simple: Re-download the file. If you get the same error then wait a few hours until your Internet connectivity improves or the site is less busy. While you can have the corrupt file error with any type of connection, most often it happens to those using dialup connections.
