Jerry wants to know a good site to use to save his bookmarks
Do you know of any good and safe sites I can use to access my favorites (bookmarks) when I'm away from home from any computer? I travel a lot and I'm often forced to use public computers when I'm away. Any suggestions? Your newsletter is by far the easiest to understand for us non-geek types. Keep up the good work!

Our answer
Thanks, Jerry. There are a couple sites we're aware of that offer this service free (so far) and they're not full of popups or spyware and so forth. Both seem to be smaller, mom & pop sites. Mom & Pop sites used to be the majority on the Web but their fast becoming an extinct species. So whenever we can we'll mention them if they offer a product or service we feel is as good as some of the big corporate sites.

There's a site called Bookmax.net which seems to work well. It's operated by someone named Dr. Peter Mayer and he's obviously (like TC) not a grammarian. But he does run a nifty little site that is just what you're looking for. Well, let's let him tell you about his site:

"...If you ever wanted to access your bookmarks from another computer or just use the same bookmarks in different browsers or operating systems, then this online bookmark manager is for you, because bookmax.net is a free online bookmarks service!

As a signed up user at bookmax.net - the online bookmark manager - you can store your bookmarks and links to your favorite sites online and access them from wherever you need.

Let bookmax.net be your personal online bookmark manager, to have the links to your favorite websites always with you and access your bookmarks online for free from wherever you are...."

Bookmax.net has an excellent privacy policy - easy-to-read, and to the point. He seems concerned about your privacy. This site has been on the Web for a long time and hopefully it will be around a lot longer. Try it, you'll like it. Get a free account by visiting bookmax.net here.

Another online bookmark manager that we've used is called iKeepBookmarks.com . While the name is a bit long, the site is easy to navigate and it has the shortest privacy policy we've ever seen.

This site offers more features than Bookmax.net, but they may not be features you need or want it depends on what you're looking for. Here's what the site's owners have to say:

iKeepBookmarks.com allows you to upload, and keep, your bookmarks on the web for free. You can access them at any time, from any computer... anywhere!

* Do you want to use your bookmarks at work and at home?
* Do you use more than one computer?
* Wish you could share your favorite pages with friends and associates?
* Ever had to start your favorites, or bookmarks, over when you bought a new computer?
* Do you use multiple browsers?
* Do you want an easy to maintain set of links?
* Would you like to give your children an easy way to access their favorite sites?..."

Well, do ya, pal?  (Kidding!) If so - get a free account at iKeepBookmarks.com by visiting this URL.

We hope that one or both of these sites will help you feel more at home while you're away from home. Sometimes we forget how much we use our bookmarks (Favorites) until we're away from home on someone else's computer - or a public computer - we're lost without them!
