Plus-Addressing With Gmail
All Windows Versions - All Browsers - Gmail account

Gmail has an interesting and unique feature that lets you add a plus sign (+) after your Gmail address. Using this feature not only helps you track where spam is coming from, but also allows you to filter and organize your incoming mail.

Google calls it "plus-addressing", and this basically gives you an unlimited number of e-mail addresses to work with.

Here's how you do it. Let's say your address is iamthegreatestever@gmail.com, and you want to automatically label all emails from your mom and make them stand out from other e-mails. All you have to do is add a plus sign and a word or phrase after it then create a filter based on the word or phrase you selected.

Here is an example. Add a plus sign and a word to make it iamthegreatestever+mom@gmail.com and set up a filter and label it "mom" (to create a filter in your Gmail account, login to Gmail, click "Settings", "Filters" and create a filter for messages addressed to iamthegreatestever+mom@gmail.com to be labeled "Mail From Mom". You can even select a color for your label - and then all your emails from mom will stand out from the rest.

You say what? You don't have a Gmail account? Well, why not? You can get one free by going to www.gmail.com and signing up. It's free, it's easy and it's works better than any other Web mail we've tried. PLUS - you can set it up to work in your favorite email program like Outlook Express, Outlook, Windows Mail, Thunderbird, Eudora and others.
