A Couple Tabbed Browsing Tips
Windows XP and Windows Vista
Internet Explorer 7 and 8 and Firefox

Some people think that tabbed browsing is the best thing since sliced bread. We must admit, the more we use it the more we like it. EB uses Internet Explorer, TC uses Firefox. They both have tabbed browsing.

A Broken Link? Or your tab settings?

If you're using tabbed browsing and the Web page you're viewing has links that open a new window (and many sites do) you may think the link is not working when you click it. But, actually it is. You probably didn't notice that a new tab had opened but was not in focus (i.e. the page didn't appear on top of the page you clicked the link on). Argh! You need to look at the tabs on top of your browser window or set you browser to open new tabs automatically - otherwise they'll sit there, quietly, without opening.

In Firefox you can do this by clicking Tools/Options/Tabs. Check the box that says "When I open a link in a new tab switch to it immediately". In Internet Explorer, click Tools/Internet Options. Next to Tabs (in the "General" window) click "Settings". When the Settings dialog opens, check the box that says "Always switch to new tabs when they are created". See? It's easy. Then you won't think Webmasters are all stupid because you think any link that opens in a new window is broken. You'll be happy, they'll be happy, and we'll be happy. Happy is good. Are you happy?

What to do when you've accidently closed a tab...

If you've accidently closed a tab, you might be swearing and raising a fuss because you think you almost have the highest score on Boggle-Brain and you want to see your name in lights - so you're filling in the information that will make you a Boggle-Brain star and you close the tab. Now you can't remember where the page was and your pounding your fists on your computer case and gnashing your teeth. Gnash no more.

If you hit Ctrl + Shift + T you can restore your closed tabs.
