John suffers eye strain when trying to read text on some Web sites
HELP! I know the Control Key + Mouse Scroll Wheel trick to enlarge and reduce text on web pages. But on some web sites it doesn't work and neither do the options under the view menu on the toolbar. Most sites resize fine but some don't. Do you know of a way to enlarge the text on all sites. On of my friends told me to change my screen resolution but I like it the way it is. Can you help?

Our Answer
Some Web sites use style sheets or remote style sheets to control the text size. So, on some Web pages using your mouse wheel or your browser's "Text Size" options will not work, because the size of the text is not in the Web site's source code at all - and therefore is not easily changeable.

So, what are all us with aging eyes supposed to do? Grab a huge magnifying glass and peer at the tiny writing through it? Forget the magnifying glass! There is a great freeware program that lets you resize the text on ANY web page or newsletter, regardless of its source code. It's called Easy Read, and here's what it does:

  • Let's you easily Zoom in and out on any webpage at the touch of a button

  • Great for those of you with poor sight when viewing small size text

  • Works in all situations, when Internet Explorer's 'Text Size' fails

  • Works with pages in frames

  • Prints your HTML page magnified

  • Totally 100% Free!

  • No popup adverts or spyware. It really is free

  • Works with Windows 2000, XP and Windows Vista (Vista support is not noted on the home page but is noted in the FAQ section)

  • NEW: Right-click on a page to zoom in and out

  • Simple to use

We think this program is just what you're looking for John - and just what the eye doctor ordered!  You can read more about and/or  download Easy Read (freeware) here
