Three great new free tools for your computer
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7

Make your computer run like new again! Scan your computer with Reimage right now!

We were looking for a freeware program of the week, and we came a across a site we'd never seen before. The site offered several free utilities. We tried all three of them and we were very impressed. These are some of the best and easiest to use Windows utilities we've ever used, and we think you'll find them useful as well.

The following three utilities have been test by us on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. They are all free. They are "Beta" versions, which means they may have bugs and are no final versions. Our tests showed them to be stable and polished, but that doesn't mean they may not have bugs that we didn't notice, or that they'll run on your computer as well as they ran on ours. We don't normally recommend beta software - but we're making an exception with these three utilities. And one more word of caution: These programs are free right now. When the final versions are released they may not be free. We don't know. We installed them and ran them without any problems. We feel they're worth having. They provide a lot of user information and they are so easy to use, even those of you who are new to computers will be able to use them without reading help files or instructions. Yes, they that easy to use.

1. SlimComputer: If you've recently purchased a computer - or your computer is fairly new - there's a good chance it came preloaded with a bunch of stuff you don't need, don't want, or don't like. And there's also a fairly good chance that a lot of the stuff that came preloaded on your PC is trialware - that expires if you don't pay for it. There isn't much software that comes pre-installed on a new PC that you actually need (with the exception of Microsoft Office or Microsoft Works). So if your computer is new or less than a year old, you'll want to take a look at "Slim Computer".

Here's the developer's description of Slim Computer (Beta):

"SlimComputer FREE - Beta
Slim Down Your New Computer:

New computers come pre-loaded with promotional software, ad links, toolbars and trial offers. SlimComputer uses crowd-sourced feedback to make optimization recommendations for your computer. It removes unneeded programs, start-up entries and services and slims down your new machine to make it run fast and clean like it's supposed to."

2. SlimCleaner is not just another cleaner - it's a whole set of Windows cleaning and optimization tools. It contains a cleaning utility, an optimizing utility, an uninstaller (although it's just a slick interface for the Windows Uninstaller applet), a file shredder, and more. One thing it is not - it is not a registry cleaner - and that is good thing.

SlimCleaner is also beta software. But we've tested it, and found no issues with it on Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, but that's no guarantee you won't. As with all software, everyone's computer is different. Here's a description of SlimCleaner from the authors:

"SlimCleaner FREE - Beta
The Community-Powered Cleaner:

SlimCleaner is the world's first software that lets you clean and optimize Windows systems using a crowd-sourced approach. SlimCleaner uses aggregated-cloud feedback to recommend optimal settings for programs, start-ups and services."

You can download SlimCleaner -Beta from http://slimcleaner.com/ .

3. SlimDrivers (Beta) is unique. There are not many programs you can download free that will scan all your Windows drivers, look for updates for all your drivers, and then download the for you - all in one session. But that's exactly what SlimDrivers (Beta) does. Whether this program remains free after the Beta testing ends, we don't know. But as far as we know the beta version does not expire - so at least it will remain free. We strongly recommend, when using a program that automatically updates your drivers that you create a restore point before running it. Sometimes new drivers can cause problems, but running a Windows computer with outdated drivers can cause more problems, and some potential security problems. So it's always best to make sure you have the latest drivers installed.

"SlimDrivers FREE - Beta
Automated Driver Updates:

SlimDrivers uses crowd-sourcing to spider and aggregate millions of devices. Using our cloud-based system, SlimDrivers not only detects when a driver needs updating, but also identifies the proper executable for your system and initiates the driver install automatically."
