This Week's
Rant
If I Were the President of the U.S.A.
We have two candidates still standing in the
race for President of the United States of America. Arguably it's the most
powerful office in the world. And, this year we really do have a choice.
Whether you support the Democrat or the Republican, you have do admit we
have a clear choice. In recent elections we've had a choice between
tweedle-dee
and
tweedle-dum.
There's been a lot of press reports denigrating
the candidates for flip-flopping. And, I'm not talking just about Obama.
McCain has flip-flopped more than his share too. I'm going to tell you why
candidates flip-flop; if they didn't continually change their positions
so they're saying what we, the people want to hear, they couldn't get elected.
I call this the "tell us what we want to hear - even if it's not the truth"
theory.

This Week's
Top Questions and Answers
A Question From Patricia
Can someone please explain the difference between the different formats
for images--i.e. basically jpeg and bitmap? Is one better than the other.
A program I use to put images into recipes, will only use bitmap, but when
I save the images, jpeg comes up first, and I have to be sure to change
it to bitmap format.
Good question - lots of choices, lots of image formats.
Which is the best choice?
The answer is here.

A Comment From Roberta
REGISTRY MECHANIC
is the greatest download choice I have ever made---does what its suppose
to - easy to run, and best of all--its a must have for all computer owners.
Thanks for recommending it. nanabert (Roberta)
Thank you, Roberta. There
is nothing better to help promote a product than customer testimonials.
We've been using
Registry Mechanic
for years and we wouldn't be without it. People get tired of hearing us
say that it's one of the must-haves for all computer owners. They take another
look though, when a reader says it's a must-have. Hundreds have taken our
recommendation and are enjoying the benefits of clean, compact, error-free
registry right now - but there are still thousands who haven't taken our
advice. Maybe they'll take yours! Thanks, TC
& EB

Rummaging Through Icons Lookin' For
A Picture
Windows XP Home, Media, and Professional
Windows Vista
Have you ever wanted to insert a picture in an email, or send a
picture to a friend and opened up a folder with lots of pictures in
it, only to be greeted by ten thousand icons with strange and mysterious
names? Maybe five years ago when you saved that picture, the name you
gave it made since, but five years later, how in the heck do you know
what "June05-2001" is? Is it picture number five of June? June went
back to Nebraska and you haven't seen her since. Or does it mean you
took it on June 5, 2001? If you're memory is as bad as ours, you won't
remember the pictures you took last June let alone pictures you took
five years ago. And if you ever knew anyone named June, and you knew
her in 2001, how do you know if those are pictures of June? Or pictures
you took in June. We all name things we think will help indicate to
us later what it is - but invariably what meant something to you last
year won't mean a thing to you this year. Know what I mean?
Let's get right down to it. If you're like
us, then you'll want a better way to find what you're looking for when
you're looking for a picture in folder full of pictures. Right?
