The big deal is - regardless of your version of Windows, one thing remains constant. The registry is the engine that makes Windows run. Like your car, Windows has many separate parts that work together to get you where you want to go. But, beneath the hood, is the most important part of your car - your engine. If that engine doesn't start or doesn't work right, you're not going very far.
