Jodi is confused and wants to know the difference between Captain Optimizer and Registry Mechanic
OK I am a bit confused.....so what else is new when it comes to computers---what is the differences between Registry Commander and Captain Optimizer. Do I download both IF they are not doing the same thing????? Thanks

The Windows registry is essentially the database the Windows operating system depends on for almost everything. Every program listed on your start menu, every setting on your Windows computer, every thing you do on your computer - starts with the Windows registry. Even your Windows start up and shut down is based in your registry. If your registry becomes corrupted, Windows won't start. Errors in the registry result in errors in Windows. In short, the registry is the database that Windows relies on for almost everything you do on your computer.

There are some "experts" who say that Windows can easily find what it needs in your registry even when it's full of invalid entries and orphaned keys. That is true, Windows, especially since Windows XP, has become more forgiving when the registry becomes bloated and full of useless garbage. That being said, it takes more time for Windows to sift through a pile of debris to find what it needs. The more garbage that collects in your registry, the most Windows has to sort through and the slower your computer becomes. And instead of taking milliseconds to find what it needs, Windows may take several seconds longer to find what it needs. Inevitably, your computer's performance suffers - and you get that old familiar Windows lag when you click a program's link. This is a big reason why your computer doesn't run like new when it's three years old.
