Sweet, Sweet Syncing: Sync along with this Cloudeight Freeware Pick

By | February 11, 2012

Have you ever had a dozen eggs go bad? You don’t know what to do – so you dump them in the sink. Then the sink is foul – it’s sour. You wish you had a sweet sink like you used to have before you got stupid and dumped the rotten eggs down the drain. Drain-O won’t help. It’s stinks worse than the eggs.

What can you do? You can pour a cup of sugar down the sink. That’s what you can do. Then you have a sugar sink instead of a foul-smelling rotten-egg sink. Which is exactly how this week’s freeware pick of the week got it’s name. But sink ain’t cool on the Internet. You can sink a ship but you cannot sink your files.

Well, if you were criminal and you kept paper files you could throw them in a baggie and throw a few rocks in the baggie and throw it in the lake and sink it  – but try doing that if you’re a digital criminal with digital files, mister. You can’t sink those. But you can sync them.

Thus SugarSync was born. And for my no money SugarSync is the sweetest sync going. Its interface has Dropbox beat by a digital mile. It’s so cleverly organized – you’ll find finding your files a fun folly. Yes soirée, (I love that little spell-check error) ma’am SugarSync makes syncing much more fun than Drain-O.

Hey! Watch those insults. You think I’m going ramble on idiotically forever, don’t you. Well, I will have you now I’m listening to Mozart’s Requiem right now – and it’s putting me in an ethereal mood. I’m in transcendence so all your insults and hisses don’t faze me. I’m impervious to your snide remarks and yawns. But I’m nothing if not empathetic. If I were you and reading this nonsense I’d be yawning or kicking the screen with my size 11’s. But since I’m writing this with my usual flair – and it’s late at night — and I’m being calmed by Mozart et. al – you can’t break my spirit with your boos.

Boo hoo.

Now it’s time to get serious about the sink — err I mean sync. What is SugarSync (other than what I’ve already told you — which is next to nothing. I like to build suspenders.) Let’s call the developers in for a quick synopsis — shall we?

I have SugarSync on my laptop and my Kindle Fire. I love how simple it is and how clean and logical the interface is. I’m a logical sort of guy – as you can tell by his marvelous example of logical writing.

The Cloud is here to stay – and 5GB of free storage space is nothing to sneeze at. You can upload approx 800 MP3s and still have room for a year’s worth of InfoAve Premium Newsletters (if you fold them in half). I will tell you that 800 MP3s equals at least 2400 minutes of music. If my math is correct — that about 40 days. That’s enough time for you to escape the Big Flood with all your animals. If it rains for 40 days and 40 nights your MP3 library will provide you with music to watch the flood by.  Unfortunately, my math is not correct so stay away from floods. You’d run out of music after 40 hours. So don’t ever count on my math skills.

SugarSync beats Dropbox in our humble opinion. What about your humble opinion? Well, see you have to go try it out before you can even have an opinion -humble or otherwise. Take a trip on the SugarSync line – and if you pass “Go” collect $200. You won’t need it for SugarSync though, because the free version provides five gigabytes of space for your music, photos, documents and yada yada.
