We’re not big on doohickeys hanging around on our desktop. But, you know, Apple Mac has some nice features – some of which Microsoft “borrowed” for Windows 7. One was the concept of the “Dock” which is simply a more advanced form of taskbar. You can move icons around it – you get little previews of open programs whose windows are minimized – lots of really good reasons why the dock concept has caught on. With a taskbar you’re pretty much stuck with icons for running programs in the order that Windows puts them. But the dock lets you move them around and also lets you see thumbnails of what’s running. So, it’s pretty cool but very difficult to describe in words.
So rather than give you a yammering lesson, we’re going to invite you to a movie that shows you how RocketDock works. So make some popcorn, grab a beer, sit yourself down and watch what RocketDock does:
Ah, are you done with the movie now? OK. Take a look at TC’s super-nifty desktop with RocketDock. Don’t be jealous now. TC’s just too cool, right?
See all the icons at the top of TC’s desktop – all the running programs? Note how clean and neat the taskbar is at the bottom? RocketDock lets you drag those program icons around in any order you like – and if you don’t like RocketDock hanging around all the time, you can auto-hide it and bring it back just by touching the top edge of the screen.
Well, a movie and a picture are worth, oh, let’s say, a million words. Aren’t you glad?
Oh yes, we need to tell you all the other features of RocketDock now…so here they are:
“…Minimize windows to the dock
Real-time window previews in Vista
