Search Secrets That Will Save You Time
Today, we’re going to show you some search secrets that will save you time. These are really little tricks we use all the time and we’re going to share them with you. We wrote this article and took the screenshots for it using Google search, but many of these little “secrets” will work on other search engines – like DuckDuckGo and Bing – although results can and do vary.
First a couple of “Google” only tips.
When searching using Google have you ever notices the Settings link? You can see it in the screenshot below.
If you click on “Settings” > “Search settings” you’ll have several options that can enhance your search results. You can see them below.
And if you click on “Settings” > “Advanced search” you’ll see some very useful tips on how to make your searches more productive. There are some excellent tips in “Advanced search” as you can see below:

All of the following were done using Google search. If you don’t use Google, try them in your favorite search engine, some of them will work, others will not.
Translate right from the search bar…
Get directions – no need to open maps.
Need detailed directions? No problem…
Convert stuff!
Need to convert Metric to U.S. measurements or U.S. to Metric? No problem! See? Use the keyword “covert”.
Find Distances
How about air miles. Want to find out how many air miles it is from one place to another?
And travel times
You can also see how long it takes to fly from one place to another. Use the keywords “travel time”.
Books by your favorite author
Do you want to find books written by your favorite authors? Not a problem! Just type “Books by author’s name” (no quotes).
Need a quick recipe?
How about finding a quick recipe? No problem!
Remember: You can do almost anything with a search engine…
Things like finding out the lowest place on Earth.
The ways you can use your favorite search engine are virtually unlimited. Try different things and see if they work. And if they don’t, they don’t. But if they do you’ve found a new search secret of your own.
