The FBI may cut off internet service to tens of thousands of user on Monday if their computers are infected with a certain malware program known as DNS Changer. So if you haven’t checked your PC for this particular malware, now would be a great time to do it. Visit this site to check your computer for the DNS Changer Trojan .

Here is an article from USA Today which explains the DNS Changer threat and contains a link which will help infected users if they find they are infected:

“Despite repeated alerts, tens of thousands may still lose their Internet service Monday unless they do a quick check of their computers for malware that could have taken over their machines more than a year ago.

The warnings about the Internet problem have been splashed across Facebook and Google. Internet service providers have sent notices, and the FBI set up a special website.

According to the FBI, the number of computers that probably are infected is more than 277,000 worldwide, down from about 360,000 in April. About 64,000 still-infected computers are probably in the United States.

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority said about 25,000 of the computers initially affected by the malware were in Canada, but now only about 7,000 machines remain infected there, according to Canadian Internet Registration Authority spokesman Mark Buell.

He said his organization, together with Public Safety Canada and the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission, has developed an online site where computer users can check their computers for the malware.

People whose computers are still infected Monday will lose their ability to go online, and they will have to call their service providers for help deleting the malware and reconnecting to the Internet…”

Thank you TC & EB…..I am sure many will benefit, (as usual) from your advice.
I was wondering from where the ”’bug”’would emulate. Monday evening, 5:15 pm in Australia….the two laptops we have are still operational…..
….Ya know….I would like the ‘techie’ advisers (Exclude TC & EB)….to advise the time in each country when the Big Bug may strike…an XYZ(standard time means nothing to many seniors) (I look out for their computers)…..
With their news reports, they see that well known personal services being discontinued, and all they see is “INTERNET MAYBE DOWNED BY A BIG BUG” !

Where is the ‘long-gone’ consideration of those who gave us life, Our Senior Citizens, when the technical waffle is spread over news reports, world wide, a DNS bug is gonna KILL YOU….

In all honesty, this planet, with commonsense Senior Citizens, should begin closeting the day to day hype and wonder of wonders new tablets, etc; ibot ipad, epad, upad, ephone ,iphone, uphone, this better, that better, next week better than last week, including, my you beaut brand new microwave oven, washing machine, TV, vehicle, garage door opener, refrigerator, ice-chest, bicycle, computer mouse and kettle are obsolete as I was driving away from the store where they were purchased.
We need a World Wide Web of honesty, where changes happen in accordance with the capacity of the human brain to accept changes, as opposed to the daily hype of ”’MUST HAVE””.
( A ‘you beaut’ SUPER NEW TV only shows the regular, boring garbage, except it is now in 3D, 4D,5D, or more, but still looks the same from any angle.)
My Morse Code powered generator bicycle still keeps me in contact with friends….at least their voices are still the same….rofl….:>)

    Kind Regards,

    John in Oz.
