Convert Video Files (and more) Without the Malware

How do I convert flv, avi and/or vob files to mp4? Tried to download a software suggestion from CNET and Emsisoft flagged it as malware? Can you suggest some procedure I can use to do this?

Hi Joan — as you’ve already discovered, video converters which are not bundled with malware are difficult to find. And we’re big fans of using Web applications to do conversions as you don’t have to install them on your computer — and therefore don’t have to worry about sneaky malware bundlers and worse. So while there may well be a free, malware-free video converter program, it will be hard to find. We tried three of them in researching the best answer to your question — all 3 tried to install malware on this computer.

We came upon and online converter, and assuming you have a broadband connection, we think you will find it useful, free and easy and safe to use. We converted several video files with it and all turned our perfect. It may not be quite as fast as installing a converter program on your computer, but it’s a lot less risky.
