About the things we post

By | July 18, 2014

Some of you take offense to the non-Cloudeight articles we post because you don’t agree with the point of view expressed in them. Some of you have threatened to quit us because we post what we feel are articles of interest — whether we agree with them or not. It’s a sad world where, because we don’t agree with everything someone else does, we simply quit those who have been our friends over the years.

Those of us who know us and who have been with us for any length of time, know we don’t pull any punches and we always strive to tell the truth. The truth is this: The articles we post do not necessarily reflect our personal views. Our personal views, especially on politics remain our personal views and we’re not making political commentary by posting articles which favor our views. We publish articles that we find interesting or thought-provoking, not articles which specifically favor our point of view.

But some of the comments some of you have posted make us wonder if we should just preach to the choir. Patriotism is like parenting — we don’t always agree with what our children do, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love them.  Our country, like our children, isn’t going to benefit from “my country right or wrong”  – “my children right or wrong”.

We don’t agree with everything we publish which comes from sources outside of Cloudeight. If some of you think we’re espousing some kind of political agenda by choosing the articles we choose to publish from other sources, you’re wrong. If  all you want to hear is one side of things then you can watch Fox News or MSNBC — they both love to preach to the choir — we don’t. We like articles that make us think whether or not we agree with them.

Some of you are going to quit us because you think we are espousing some grand political agenda, and that’s not true.

We have been on the Web for over eighteen years and we have helped thousands of people over the years. If you’re going to quit us because you don’t agree with the articles we publish that we may or may not agree with, then you should do it. That will only serve to remind us that what we observe every day is true. We are living in an age where nothing gets done because no one wants to hear what the other side has to so — some people only want to hear thing they agree with, and that’s too bad.

The world has become so polarized that finding common ground or disagreeing intelligently and respectfully has darn near become extinct. Those who disagree with a few articles we publish they don’t agree with  (we have published over 1500 articles) are going to quit, really? That tells us a lot more about you than the articles we publish tell you about us. If you want to know us, read our essays, our computer tips and tricks; read the articles WE author.

It’s always a good thing to remember that who are quick to  judge others should be prepared to be judged quickly.

We are not going to apologize for publishing articles which we find interesting,  thought-provoking, or controversial. They don’t tell you anything about us. Judge us, if you really need to judge us, on what we write, not articles we feature written by others.  If you are going to quit us because you don’t agree with everything we publish, perhaps you should do so — we are not going to be anything but what we’ve always been.

Those of you who are fair and thoughtful will stick with us and we have a feeling there are a lot more of you than there are those who threaten quit because they don’t agree with every single thing we publish on this site.

Keep up the good work!!!! Ignore the ‘Nay sayers” I have been with you practically from the beginning and you have been a lifesaver for me any times with your wonderful advice, so don’t change anything that you are doing as I am sure that the people that appreciate you far outnumber the small minded minority.

Hey, I love Cloudeight! You can print, publish, re-publish, post or re-post anything you want! We do not have to agree on everything but if people don’t like something, they don’t have to read it, they can choose to quit coming here–period!

Why continue to holler and threaten again and again? We are free to leave here anytime–so if that’s what people really WANT TO DO–JUST DO IT!!

As for me, TC and EB–I’m afraid your STUCK with me for good! I’m grateful for all of your information and all your help and advice, so THANK YOU! PLEASE KEEP IT UP AND DON’T GET DISCOURAGED!!

I have been with you for a long time and you have strayed a little from the articles that you used to present long ago. Times change. I treat your articles like I do everything else….If I don’t like them–I don’t read them. Pretty simple to me. You still have a lot of stuff that I do like though!!

It’s YOUR website and YOUR business. WE can choose whether to participate/read/recommend/reject/accept what you have to say. If someone does not like what you have to say, they are free to go elsewhere. Of course, the advice they get elsewhere is probably questionable, and those of us who have been loyal subscribers/followers since the beginning know where the best advice (without something to gain by those who give it) comes from: CLOUDEIGHT!
And I am a FOXNEWS fan who also knows what to believe/accept/reject and don’t need someone to tell me what to believe/accept/reject. That’s called being adult and having common sense, as well as being able to think for myself. CloudEight simply provides the facts and leaves it up to us what we do with the information.
Thanks for treating us all as adults, even though some may not deserve it.

I agree 100%! It’s a sad commentary when a persons point of view can change how others feel about them. That’s as bad as “if you don’t let me win, I’ll take my ball and bat and find someone else to play with”. It would be a dull boring world if everyone held the same point of view and had no ideas of their own. (doesn’t that almost mean we’d still be living in caves?) Open your minds people. EB & TC are NOT asking any of us to change our minds. They are just helping us to exercise our minds.
Keep up the terrific job you’ve always done and hold your heads high. You have nothing of which to be ashamed!

If folks leave because of the “outside the box” things you post it will be their loss. Goes to show just how intolerant folks are getting. I have been reading your news letters since its inception, I think, been a long time anyway. I cut my teeth on windows 98, XP, Vista and 7 with your expertise. I will most likely learn windows 8 sooner or later. I am 80 years old and do use a lot of your tips and tricks. Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree. I have found nothing adverse in any of your posts. Thanks for being here.

I can’t believe because someone doesn’t like what you post or don’t agree with you they would quit you. No one will ever agree with even their best friend or spouse 100% of the time. Do you quit them? You are well trusted and so helpful. Let them quit. Who needs people like that anyway! Negativity and causing trouble seem to be some people’s lot in life. Gee – I guess I should throw out my television set because sometimes I see things on it that I don’t agree with. And that commentator I heard on the radio yesterday has no idea what he’s talking about. I’m going to get rid of that radio. The editor of our local newspaper is soooo wrong. I’m going to cancel my subscription. All of that would make just as much sense as people who quit Cloudeight because they don’t agree with everything you publish. (And let’s not even get into freedom of speech.) Keep up the good work, TC and EB – the number of people you help and enlighten far, far outnumber the few who don’t appreciate your efforts. It’s hard to believe that people can be so petty minded about things. Commonsense seems to have disappeared with so many people. Do they throw away the morning paper or a magazine and never get it again because they don’t like an article in it? Perhaps they expect everything be written to suit them!

I have been with you since I first went on the Internet in Australia many years ago now, without you and TC I would certainly not have the knowledge to boldly go and do the many things that I have done over the years, I have learnt to type, use the computer with your help and use the programmes that you suggest, I am now 70 years old and I know that if folks don’t agree with you : well they just don’t have to read or do what is in the news letter, BUT without it we would certainly be a lot poorer in both knowledge and helpful hints, PLUS all the extra goodies you pass along every single letter, so keep up the great work. It is appreciated and looked I forward to each and every newsletter. Thank You both for your time and effort.

Opinion broadens the mind. Sadly, some people are very blinkered and rather bigoted. How can we learn if no one ever offers a different point of view? Other people’s points of view always interest me – whether I agree with them or not is neither here nor there. Harry

After all the years……what is it now…..16 years or so, I have never read any abnormal comments or behavioural nastiness, and the truth of any matter has always been your first priority, even going as far as admitting to being wrong or mistaken on any given occasion.

You have served members and guests as though your family, and we thank you for the continued, weekly ‘goodies’ which would be a great loss if it ever came to an end.

You are both wonderful, dedicated people.

I fear more every day for the future of this country because of “sheep” with one-track minds. We don’t lose our freedoms, we give them away every time we allow others, whether many or few, to silence us. I have my own mind & will use it without the permission of dissenters. NO ONE can agree on everything with everybody, & especially not with those who view their thoughts as the only “right” way of thinking. (Shades of Hitler…) Publish what you will, EB & TC. You’re losing nothing with the exit of narrow-minded & empty-souled ingrates. Your other free-thinkers still stand beside you! As it’s said in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, “Luv yinz!”

Seems to me that some people these days can find fault with anything that doesn’t agree with their way of thinking. People wake up! Take off the rose colored glasses and get with the program! Like others in this blog, if you don’t like what you read, delete or skip over. The fact remains that that Cloudeight has some brilliant programs, ideas and essays. If you think everyone will agree with you, just look into the mirror. Not everyone may like what you say either. Thanks for all your great tips, tricks and essays. Different strokes for different folks, people. You must have a delete key in your brain. If it doesn’t agree with your thoughts, DELETE IT. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, that’s what i enlisted for in WWII, so that you could speak your views. I don’t have to agree with them!
Talk about not agreeing with everyone else, look at Israel, Libya, and all those countries and what has happened because they don’t agree with each others views. Would you want that here in the USA?

PLEASE DON’T CHANGE! I like you just the way you are. Please note that I said, “I like” NOT “We like”. I speak only on behalf of my one-of-a-kind brain which tells me to listen to all other’s thoughts and advice, then keep those I want to save and discard those I don’t. If “we” all had the same brain, with the same thoughts, it would surely be a living nightmare. So, PLEASE DON’T CHANGE . . . I like you just the way you are!

I really don’t have anything to add that hasn’t already been said. That’s a lot of the problem with this world. If one person doesn’t like something the think everyone else should bow down to there wishes. Take someone who doesn’t like guns. They think no one should own a gun because they don’t. Look at what we let one person do that didn’t like prayer in schools, and you can’t get people to see why there’s so much violence now. Have you noticed that when there’s a tragedy at some school, the first thing people ask for is prayer? We’re letting these “Left Wing Dingbats” destroy our country. I wonder how many people I will offend by me simply giving my point of view? GET OVER IT!
Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Luk 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

I have never seen this many comments on a subject since the beginning. Things change as time changes.
I have found over the (many) years of my life, that nothing brings out the nastiness in folks as can
comments concerning politics. Some do not allow others to have differing concepts from their own.
We all need to compromise and not be so rigid. The truth should be the foundation of our thoughts
and to search for the truth is necessary before believing someone’s opinion. Opinion is not the truth.

Hey TC and EB, there is strength in numbers and rest assured, there are way more of us out here who appreciate everything you do than there are eggheads who get angry, make accusations and are just downright nasty. As several of the folks said in earlier comments, if I start to read something and it turns out not to be what I expected or is not that interesting to me, I just keep on scrolling! It amazes me how many narrow-minded and/or closed-minded nasty people there are in this old world of ours. And they are everywhere. I have a paid membership to an online game site, and you would not believe how many times people have called me nasty names and/or just up and quit in the middle of a game because I happened to be winning. But out of the hundreds of people I have met and played over the year since I joined this particular game site, the nice folks way outnumber the nasty ones, and so I continue to play and enjoy myself. So keep up the good work, you two. I love all the tips and tricks you have taught me over the years since I quite by accident ran into your web site one time when I was surfing the web. well … who does delete or cancel their email accounts because we get daily mails we don’t want or do not like. We have the delete button. We are not forced to read all mails and we are not forced to read each article we get from news groups. We can not force the authors of news grousp that they only write those articles which are especially interesting for us. We can not force other people to have the same opinion as we have. It is great to read about different minds. When people want to leave because of the broad variety of articles you can’t help it. All others find so often articles which we like. Interesting or heartwarming or rumours and many warnings which I really don’t want to miss out.
Never mind people who will always find a hair in the soup. Nobody can be appreciated from all people. There is always somebody to criticise even they do not do the work and do not pay but claim you should offer what they like to have.
