After More Than 40 Years, Windows Notepad Has Finally Evolved
Notepad has evolved into a featureful text editor that every Windows 11 user should try. It’s certainly not the Notepad we grew up with.
The new Notepad in Windows 11 offers many improvements over the classic version, catering to users who want more functionality without sacrificing its simplicity. Here are some of the key changes:
Dark Mode: A highly requested feature, dark mode provides a more eye-friendly experience in low-light environments. For me, Dark Mode is a blessing as the contrast makes it easier to see my writing. To use this feature, choose Windows Dark Mode in Settings > Personalization > Colors > Choose your mode.
Improved Font Options: The new Notepad offers more control over font styles and sizes, allowing for better text customization.
Tabs: A major new addition, tabs allow users to work with multiple text files simultaneously within a single Notepad window, improving organization and workflow.
Search and Replace: This feature makes text editing easier by enabling users to quickly find and replace specific words or phrases within a document.
Undo/Redo (Multiple Levels): The ability to undo and redo actions multiple times provides a safety net, allowing users to revert to previous versions of their work more easily.
Spell Check and Autocorrect: Currently available to most Windows 11 users, this feature helps catch typos and improve overall text accuracy.

If you’re using Windows 11 and haven’t tried the “new” Notepad yet, give it a try. We think you’ll like all the new features.
We should note here that some of these new Notepad features are still rolling out to Windows 11 users although most users should have them by now.
Old Notepad (Windows 10) already has Find and Replace. But aside from that, yeah these are some cool new features. Thanks!
Too bad that windows 10 users won’t get to enjoy it.
Sounds like they put a lot of Wordpad features in the new Notepad?
WordPad won’t be included in future versions of Windows – Microsoft says it being “Deprecated”. You still can’t do hyperlinks in Notepad though.
