Check a site for cookies before you visit

While we have an ambivalent attitude toward cookies, many of you seem to be concerned with cookies and no amount of words by us are going to get you to stop worrying about cookies. Therefore in the spirit of capitulation, we offer to those cookiephobics among you a Web site where you can check any other Web site for cookies — three different kinds too — Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal…. no no no.. Three kinds of cookies — Local, Third Party and third-party requests.

While this site is basically designed for users in the European Union, those of you from other countries (USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, etc.) will find this site educational and interesting. The site also has a “fix” button that you can press to see what kinds of changes a Web site would need to make in order to comply with the EU’s stringent cookie policy.

Now if you’ve never had a stringent cookie, don’t worry. We like normal cookies, preferably round, chewy, sweet ones.

If you’re cookie paranoia has gotten the best of you, or if you’re simply interested in learning new things, you might want to check out your favorite sites to see what cookies they’re dropping on you….

If you need cookie recipes, let us know 😉

We’re ambivalent about cookies because we know there are much more dangerous things on the Internet than cookies. But cookies are a concern for some of you and it’s downright interesting how they work.

EB likes frosted oatmeal cookies and TC has now taken to eating Oreos soaked in milk til they’re mushy! Yummy.

    “…..Oreos soaked in milk til they’re mushy!” ???? Y U C K
now really, TC, “mushy” is good if your teeth don’t chew as well as they use to, but otherwise, everybody knows the only way to eat an Oreo (double stuff, of course) is to split it, scrape off the “double stuff” with your teeth, and then dunk each side separately in milk (just for a second so it stays crunchy) — one at a time. .. OR…. use them as a scoop for dunking into vanilla ice cream. Any way that tricks me into thinking I had more cookies than I really did. In my case, I MUST take only 2-3 cookies, put the package back on the shelf, then eat the 2-3 cookies in the room furthest away from where Istore the package….preferably in a chair that’s hard to get out of…and with a favorite movie playing.

Computer cookies??? Much ado about nothing, I say.
BUT…that site sure is interesting to know about. Thanks.

I tried three different web sites and received the following message – Error: Something went wrong. Please try again.

I also tried checking several sites and got the same error message as Chuck Billman. (And I don’t eat Oreo cookies at all. Now, eating something salty and crunchy . . . . whole different story )

I have no idea what this has to with the article. If you’re checking a site for cookies and you get an error message contact the company that runs the cookie-checker site. Additionally, the company does not say it works on every single page. It works on a lot of pages but not all pages.
