Chrome Has a Major Vulnerability – You Need to Update Now
If you use Chrome, you need to update it ASAP. To update Chrome, click on the 3 vertical dots in the top-right corner of Chrome. Then click “Help” > “About Google Chrome”. If Chrome is not up to date, it will automatically update. You’ll need to restart (relaunch) Chrome to finish the update.
Here are the details from Forbes…
Chrome has fallen victim to its sixteenth zero-day attack of the year. Zero-day vulnerabilities are where hackers discover a security flaw before a fix can be released. It is the most dangerous type of hack and Windows, Mac and Linux users are all affected. Google also revealed it has discovered a further four ‘High’ threat level vulnerabilities. Now Chrome’s massive two billion-strong user base needs to take immediate action.
In order to buy Chrome users time, Google is currently restricting information about all the new attacks but it has revealed where its browser is vulnerable and that it rates the latest zero-day hack’s threat level as critically dangerous… (source)
So, if you use Chrome, please update it as soon as you can. We want to keep you safe!
Thanks for the heads-up. I will do it right now!
Does this apply to the Android version of Chrome as well?
It’s all I currently use to interact online.
No, according to Google’s blog post only Chrome on Windows, Mac, and Linux are affected. Android is not mentioned.
I checked Chrome for an available update. Says I’m up-to-date with Version 96.0.4664.110.
My Chrome says it’s up to date. Do I still have to restart Chrome again?
Thank you Darcy and TC. I followed your instructions and found that my Chrome was up to date. Now I can breathe that sigh of relief. Merry Christmas!
Hi Carol… if Chrome says it is up to date, you’re all set. You don’t need to restart it.
Thanks for your reply, Mine also tells me it is up to date….

Thanks for the info. I finally went to Windows 10 this month, and I am trying to figure everything out. Thanks again.
