One of the most common Windows annoyances is Windows Updates failing to install. While there is no easy fix for some of these problems — if you’re having a problem installing Net Framework 4 via Windows Updates, this recently release Microsoft tool may be just the ticket to fix your problem. Notice we said “may be”. No guarantees — but it’s worth a shot. Remember — this will only attempt to fix problems with the Microsoft .NET Framework 4. And it’s available in English only — so if you, like EB only speak Slobovian, you’ll have to get a sidekick who speaks English to help you. Many of you don’t think I speak English either — but you judge me too harshly. I speak better than I write — don’t I EB?
Anyway— here’s what good, old MS has to say about their new tool to help you get your Windows Update for .NET Framework 4 installed:
“The Microsoft .NET Framework repair tool detects and tries to fix some frequently occurring issues with the setup of or with updates to the .NET Framework. Additionally, this tool tries to resolve these issues by applying known fixes or by repairing the installed product. The tool can also be used to repair corrupted Microsoft .NET Framework 4 installations. This includes .NET Framework 4 language packs. The tool is wizard-based and is fairly self-explanatory…”
Yippee!
This .net repair tool did not work on my computer. I tried it twice – same results. error logs were supposedly sent to Microsoft, for what that’s worth. Never had any logs that I have sent to Mickeysoftmouse ever responded to.
Do you have any other ideas?

It didn’t work for me either but that might be because I run Linux which more people should do because a lot of them seem have problems with Windows.
We never said it would fix all update issues. It only works on one particular update. Windows 7 has a myriad of update issues — some of which are nearly impossible to solve. The best solution we’ve found is to wait — Microsoft usually fixes the update issues over time.
I tried to use the repair tool several times but it would never complete the download. I keep getting messages all day every day to install updates,
I am not sure which one I had a problem installing but eventually found out that I had to shut the computer off not just restart then it came up and installed. I tried using a tool that didn’t work to get it done as well.
