Infographics and Laziness

karlWhat are Infographics? Plus a Windows 8.x Keyboard Shortcuts Infographic

Oh yes, we’re caught up in an age where image is everything and substance is nothing. So it’s no wonder that lovely pearls of prose have given way to quick and easy pictures, some of which — like the one below – are called Infographics.

I suppose this just shows you how lazy the younger generation is – why the heck read when you can look at a picture? If our society is not already at the point where we select mates solely on the basis of appearance – we soon will be. I can visualize a “Linda Meader Marriage Hunt Infographic” or a “Karl Spine Marriage Hunt Infographic” which would contain many selfies along with info such as height, weight, measurements, likes and dislikes, and of course all of their self-perceived alluring qualities.

Well it’s too bad we’ve moved into the era of image over substance. Whatever happened to the old pioneer days where a good woman was one who could make a mean goat stew and starch shirts and a good man could wrangle a cow and build a house out of trees! And it really didn’t matter what they looked like as long as they bathed once a week. My oh my! The world has become so superficial.

Sometimes, an infographic has merit, such as is the case with the one below from our friends at MakeUseOf. Windows 8.x is convoluted enough without having to page though a book full of dooly dads, shortcuts and protracted yammering. All you need is love and the infographic below and you’ll be able to get some productivity and useful time with your Windows 8.x computer – it should help you dull the yearning for Windows XP or the hope that Windows 10 brings a more Windows XP-like experience.

Yes, the infographic below is difficult to read because we had to resize it for this newsletter, but if you click on the image below, we promise you that even those who are visually handicapped should be able to see easily. So click on the image below to see it in it full glory.
