Is Windows 8 a Trojan horse for the NSA? The German Government thinks so

By | August 23, 2013

Wow, I really think conspiracy theorists are mostly humorous. When I first read a similar article, I sniffed and chortled. It sounded so far fetched — plus the Web site it was posted on had pictures of aliens skulking around Area 51.

But then I saw a similar post on more, shall we say, reputable sites, and just a few minutes ago, I saw it on PC World’s Web site. Well, I’m not going to wait around and be scooped by the Wall Street Journal or Fox News! I’m going to share this will you and get your opinion.

I have accused Microsoft of doing many stupid things, especially releasing a one-size-fits-all operating system like Windows 8. Those kinds of things usually end up fitting no one, and Windows 8 seems to please very few.

But if this article is true, this makes Microsoft the biggest bunch of boneheads since The Three Stooges, but at least they did for laughs. Microsoft’s reputation is less than stellar now, are they intentionally trying make their ship sink more quickly. Are they seeking a quicker, more painless death? Or do they figure they’ll run the ship aground and get a government bailout like GM did — so they’re cozying up to the U.S. Government by playing footsies with the NSA.

Anyway, you tell us what you think. Would Microsoft ever be this stupid?

Read this and let us know what you think. This is an excerpt from PC World:

“The German Government is now deeply suspicious that the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) technology built into a growing number of Windows 8 PCs and tablets is creating a gigantic back door for NSA surveillance, leaked documents have suggested.

Documents from the German Ministry of Economic Affairs obtained by German title Zeit Online uncover the alleged unease of officials at the direction of version 2.0 of the standard being developed under the auspices of the multi-vendor Trusted Computing Group (TCG).

TPM has been marketed as a security technology since its appearance in 2006, but version 2.0 would embed a chip on every PC that has complete control over which programs can and can’t run, a setting that can’t be over-ridden under Windows 8. The chip is also where the cryptographic data is stored for Windows BitLocker and it enables remote administration.

Windows 8 security going forward will be founded on TPM 2.0 and the ability to access or break it would be of huge value to any intelligence service…”

Read the rest of the article and then come back and tell us what you think.

That would be quite easy to believe I would have no doubt any Government would use the opportunity. Would you be so naive as to think they would not?

I believe in this corrupt and morally-decaying society we live in, anything is possible…including mind-boggling stupidity. Microsoft becoming a stooge for the idiot-we’re-protecting-you-from-some-nebulous-danger policy of the NSA is as greedy-stupid as it gets.

Follow the money trail. If this article is even remotely true, the money will provide the map to wherever it’s going. Honesty, integrity, freedoms and rights of individuals (including personal privacy) won’t even be a factor in any decision making….only money and power are important to them. Supreme Court majority decisions over the past 10 years favoring corporations wants over individuals needs has laid the groundwork for anything to happen.

Add Microsoft’s arrogance to the stupidity of Windows 8 and I think they would sacrifice anything, or anyone, including any residual integrity that may still exist in their operation.
