It’s Now Much Easier to Change Your Default Browser in Windows 11
When Windows 11 was first released, users had to jump through hoops to change the default browser to something other than Microsoft Edge. In their infinite wisdom, Microsoft figured that if they made it difficult to switch the default browser, everyone but the geeks would end up using Microsoft Edge. But that upset a lot of people because as Microsoft quickly learned — not everyone likes Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft finally got the message. It took a while, but Microsoft finally acquiesced and now it’s much easier to switch default browsers in Windows 11.
Here’s how to set a default browser in Windows 11.
Open settings – (Windows key + i ) and click on “Apps”.
Under “Apps” click on “Default apps”.
In “Apps > Default apps” find the browser you want to set as your default browser. In this tutorial, we’re going to set Firefox as our default browser, but you can choose any browser you have installed (Chrome, Opera, Brave, Firefox, etc…..)
Since we are going to set Firefox as the default for this tip we clicked on Firefox and then clicked on the “Set default” button near the top of the Default apps page.
When you click the “Set default” button a checkmark appears next to Firefox (or Chrome, or whatever browser you chose) showing that the browser you chose is now your default browser.
From now all web pages and website links will open in your default browser. And if a reset or something else changes your default browser back to Microsoft Edge, now you know how easy it is to change it back to the browser you prefer.
And remember: You can change your default browser to almost any browser you have installed – Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Brave, etc. as shown above.
