Nudge, fudge, grudge, trudge…a great new free service you’ll love.

By | November 12, 2013

benefit-remember2My brain isn’t good at remembering things I don’t want to remember — stuff like going to the dentist, going for an echocardiogram, cutting my toenails, applying for welfare, going down to pick up this month’s food stamps (thanks for the raise, EB), going to the grocery store…which leads me to forget stuff I think of a week before I go shopping but don’t write down…and other stuff I’m apt to forget. You know how it is… “What’s too painful to remember, we simply choose to forget…”

Well, my dear Cloudeight friends, if I had a megaphone or if I were a town crier, I’d be shouting this BECAUSE HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO GET IN ON THE GROUND FLOOR OF WHAT LOOKS TO BE A VERY USEFUL SERVICE — CALLED NUDGEMAIL!

Okay, my friends, I’m done shouting. If you need to be reminded of something tomorrow, next Saturday, next month, next year, 2 hours from now…whenever… this is the service you’ve been waiting for – and right now it’s free.

So besides giving you a lesson in how not to use ellipses and dashes and so on, to make run-on sentences appear proper, you’ve also learned how to shout without opening your mouth — and you have learned about a great new service to help your aging brain remember things you’ll most likely forget if you don’t make yourself a reminder. And since some of you are Facebook addicts who can’t wait to see who’s eating donuts at Carp’s Doughnut Emporium on Lister Street, without you, and others among you wait impatiently for that next important email to arrive, this will give you the chance to at least get an important email from yourself.

Enough rambling and beating around the bush. If you want reminders by email, and you don’t want to pay a cent, then you’ll want to get in on the ground floor of this new service called NudgeMail.

Go Nudge yourself, Norton and Nellie.

Here’s the scoop for those of you who lack a sense of humor or who appreciate my wonderful humor but also want to know what the heck I’m talking about:

I use Memo To Me which is about as easy to use as a door key. This also sends you an email with the added advantage of warning reminders and a final reminder before the actual date

It MemoToMe requires users to join; NudgeMail does not. So they’re two different types of services. MemoToMe’s privacy policy is sketchy as well.

I use Google Calendar for the same thing. I have EVERYTHING in there and I get my reminders in email.

As with all things computer there are at least a dozen ways to do the same thing. Calendars have always been calendars — I just thought NudgeMail is unique — and it is. You don’t have to sign up for anything — which makes it nice. You can’t use Google Calendar without signing up for an account. So for those who don’t want everything saved on someone’s server, NudgeMail offers this advantage.

I tried NudgeMail yesterday–sent an email for something I needed to do today, and got my reminder first thing this morning just as promised. I’m learning there are several ‘commands’ you can use also, and really personalize this service to suit yourself. I think I’m really going to like NudgeMail, and I did not have to sign up or join anything! It just works; love it! Thanks for the tip!
