Problems With Windows 10 File History? Try Resetting It

If you get a message that your Windows 10 File History backup has stopped working, try resetting File History. We uploaded a zip file containing a batch file and a script written to reset Windows 10 File History.

First,  download this Cloudeight zip file.

Next, unzip the file. There are two files inside. One is a batch file and one is Visual Basic script. You should only need to run the batch file (double-click it to run) to reset File History:

Follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Unplug the external drive that you want to use to back up your files with File History.
2. Unzip the file above and double-click on the batch file.
3. Restart your PC
4. Plug in the external drive you want to use to backup
5. Try setting up file history by going to Settings > Update & security > Backup > Backup using File History > Select a drive.

If this does not work, then go back and follow the instructions above, only this time double click on the VBS script (in the zip file) instead of the batch file.
