RUN commands are quick and easy ways to access certain Windows features. We use them all the time. They’re quick, easy to learn, easy to use, and kind of make you feel warm and geeky.
To use a RUN command just press and hold down the Windows Key, press the R key and type in any one of the following commands. After you type the command, press Enter to execute it:
CALC
Opens calculator.
WMPLAYER
Opens Windows Media Player
WRITE
Opens WordPad
MSPAINT
Opens MS Paint (duh!)
MSINFO32
Opens System Information (and yes it’s the same for 64-bit systems)
NOTEPAD
Opens Notepad
SERVICES.MSC
Opens Services. Allows you to manage all services running on your computer.
DEVMGMT.MSC
Opens Device Manager
CMD
Opens a Windows Command Prompt Window ( the erstwhile DOS window)
OSK
Opens the Windows On-screen Keyboard
REGEDIT
Opens the Windows Registry Editor.
Now go run, it’s fun!
And who said the command line died with MS-DOS? (Grin)
