Tame UAC without turning it off

By | December 3, 2011

UAC (User Account Control) is another Microsoft workaround in their never-ending battle with hackers as Microsoft tries to keep us Windows users safer.

But turning off UAC isn’t a good idea. But we all know too well how those UAC prompts can get annoying. There’s a little program (330KB) that can tame UAC for you without turning it off. And before we go any further, when you go the site you won’t see Windows 7 listed – but we assure you that the program works well with Windows 7. We’ve tested in on Windows 7 32bit and 64bit computers and it works great.

After you download and install the program called Tweak UAC, open it and “Switch UAC to the quiet mode” option. This will prevent some of those annoying UAC warning prompts — and a lot of clicking.
