Tell us what you’d like our next stationery collection to be

By | January 7, 2012

The Holiday season is past. We are getting ready to make a new stationery collection. It’s still too early for Valentine’s Day stationery (isn’t it?),  so we’ve been thinking about another winter collection. But we’re sick of winter already – and maybe you are too.

So we decided to ask you what you’d like our next stationery collection to be. Would you like a winter collection? Or would you like an early Valentine’s collection? Or would you like something else? We’d really like to know what you think. We’d like to know what you want.

We want to remind you that scrolling and music are no longer options with Windows 7 (nor in the upcoming Windows 8). For those of you who are still using Outlook Express (XP and earlier) and Windows Mail (Vista) we have approximately 3000 musical & scrolling stationery in our archives – and we will continue to make those available to you.

From our standpoint, it does not make sense to keep making more stationery for email programs which can’t be used in newer versions of Windows. So we’re doing the best we can with what Microsoft gives us to work with. Our current stationery works in a lot of different email programs – Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, IncrediMail, Outlook Express, Windows Mail and older versions of Outlook.

We wish that Microsoft would have kept Outlook Express or Windows Mail in Windows 7. But they didn’t. The fact is that Windows Live Mail is a very poor email program – we know it and you know. But hang on, because it appears that things are only going to get worse with Windows 8. As of right now (and Windows 8 is in pre-beta testing – so it’s very early) the mail situation will only get worse. As of now, Windows 8 will have two Microsoft choices for email – Windows Live Mail and Metro Mail (a Windows phone app). Neither of these applications are stationery-friendly.

If we had several hundred thousand dollars to spend, we’d would be developing a stationery-based email program. We’d love to do that – but we can barely afford to keep our doors open now; we simply don’t have the money to fund such a complex project. But we would do it for you in a heartbeat if we had the wherewithal.

So with all that in mind, please give us your thoughts about what you’d like our next email stationery collection to be. Just leave a comment on this post. Please don’t email us directly though. We would like your posts to be available for others to see. OK?

We’d love to hear your ideas.

I would love to see some backyard birds for Windows 7 stationery. There are a lot of birds that are out that are beautiful even if it’s not spring. Some of the stationeries could be with a border on the top too instead of on the side. Anyway, I love everything about this Thundercloud and also the HILL. Love it!!

I was just thinking about this last week; Thunderbird stationary with winter scenes; birds; victorian graphics; spring flowers or gardens. Those are my top used stationary. Oh yes, I like inspirational quotes too. I too, was disappointed with the lack of choices for New Years.

Hello. My votes go first to Patricia Klun for Serious DRAGONS (wingless Asian ones), and to Diane for DRAGONS AND WIZARDS. SERIOUS cats (not the “cutsy” ones please) are my other love. And, without meaning to be redundant, thank you both (all?) for the things you do and the way you do them. I don’t write often, but when I do it’s with special reason. Being asked what kind of stationery I would like is certainly one of those. Oh, and if it isn’t possible now, could you devise some Funletters for Windows 7 please? Or even somehow get those for Outlook Express also available on 7? If it’s there already, I’ve not found it and, not surprisingly, I love best the one with the black cat – just like my Samson!

Scrolling with music is no longer an option. Windows 7 and Windows 8 do not support scrolling with music. If you’re still using Vista or XP we have over 5000 choices of scrolling / musical stationery. But unless things change at Microsoft – what we have is all we’ll every have. It doesn’t make much sense to keep making stationery for older Windows versions – when more than 60% are now using Windows 7. It will only get worse when Windows 8 is launched. Right now the only Microsoft choices for mail in Windows 8 is Metro Mail (app) and possibly Windows Live Mail. Sorry but things change and as far as Microsoft is concerned – they are not really going to change for those who really enjoy stationery. It’s called progress – but it’s sad nonetheless.

I have a Gold membership with Incredimail so I use mostly their stationary. But, if you were to make some with Chihuahuas, I would definitely use the Chis most of the time. I think most of us are done with the winter stuff (please, no more) and myself, I feel like I have been holidayed to death so pass on the holiday stuff. How about something for our soldiers, like a very nice thank you for your service and welcome home stationaries. And, you should also think about the guys who use stationary. Most of your stationary is geared toward us women, who probably use most of the stationary, but it would be nice to make something that men would like to use too. Thanks for giving us the choice to voice our opinions. You two rock!

I’d like to see plaids, quilt patterns, paisleys, celtic knots, and non-gender-type stationery. There’s quite a bit of “cutesy” and feminine stationery, and all that is fine — no criticism intended. BUT — I’d like to see some masculine office-type stationery (like one used to be able to buy in a stationery store) and some non-cartoon stationery besides the cuddly kids and animals type stuff. Anyway, you have some gret collections and I think you do a great service for folk that like to use stationery.

Well, whatever the subject matter is, I think it is kind of tacky to announce “Cloudeight Stationery” Get more, click here right at the bottom IMHO. Also on my monitor the pattern goes begins on the far left. I type the text of my letter but it overlaps on another column of design which is on the right, and then there is a band of white. Should the design be bordering each side with text in the middle? How can I fix this?

You have the option of not using our stationery. We don’t charge anything for it. Almost every other stationery site has disappeared because no one supported them. The things we give away free to you – are not free to us. We have thousands of dollars invested in servers and bandwidth – not to mention the time. It is really tacky when someone get something free and then turns around and complains about it – don’t you think?

What ever the picture is on your new stationery the area where you write the text should be plain/pastel colored. No faint lines or patterens under your text. For some it makes it hard to read the text for others it tends to nauseate them.

You always come up with nice statioery whether it is flowers, young animals/birds or holiday thems.

I really like the young pets/animal/bird themes along with the many flowers. Just keep them comforting whether it is religious or non-religious. The occasional greeting box would be great. The greatest thing is we all have a choice of which ones we want.

I am still a Outlook Express user and do use a LOT of your stationery but there are some I just stay away from. You have so many to choose from that I do not see how you can come up with more. But what ever you do I know will be great.

Although the actual day “Fat Tuesday” (literal translation of Mardi Gras) is not until Feb. 21, the SEASON of Mardi Gras begins the day after Ephiphany (Jan. 6) – the parades and parties and celebrations start Jan 7th and go on until the actual day of Mardi Gras, so how about a Mardi Gras theme? Especially since Feb. is kind of dominated by Valentine’s Day in most people’s minds. Otherwise, I like the suggestion of a mixed greetings or a medieval theme with dragons.

As the lady who mentioned having Windows 7, that Windows doesn’t offer much in the way of down-loading stationaries. In fact, I’ve been using some pictures of my own collection for this Windows 7
As always we cannot have sound with it, unless we attach some saved music from our own collection.
Seems to me that MSN has really excuse the expression “screwed us all”.
When you can make some stationaries with sound , and have birds, and flowers and all that other good stuff. I’ll be downloading stationaries.
What I don’t like are these stationaries that look like shadowy figures–I prefer real images. You had one called Glass revisited and it showed a lovely picture of a vase, and a cat beside it, and the background music was really comforting.

Really miss the musical stationery, have used and enjoyed your site for 11 years. That said, the beautiful universe was awsome and early spring including some wildlife would be very nice.
Ohio winter hasn’t setin yet, but it will, and sunny, hint of spring stationery would be nice.
Love your website, have passed it onto many, thank you for all that you do.

With increasing pressures on our Wild Spaces and Wildlife Habitat…being able to keep these ‘front of mind’ using nature and wildlife pics along with quotes from folks like HD Thoreau,Aldo Leopold, Rachel Carson & Native American Conservationists would be a valuable use of stationery!

Holiday stationary with clean almost watermark backgrounds and no kid drawings. What I really, really, really would like is more Quick Notes. They are the only things I can use. So, please, please, please more Quick Notes….Outlook 2010 user.

I would like to see several collections of National or State Park Scenery, full page backgrounds.
Also untaped are collections of “outdoors” with respect to camping, RVing, hiways and byways, roadside scenes, etc.
Also would like scenes of ‘olden times’ touching the nostalgic nerve and sense of rustic history.
    Thanks for asking… Roger

I would love to see some stationery depicting love and caring and helping hands, both towards humans and our beloved pets. Remind people that animals have feelings to, and that abuse is wrong. Animals offer us the strongest love that there is.

I love to use stationery and wish you had a selection as good as Incredimail. Need some funny ones!! Love animal paper, inspirational, funny, and more new holiday–for every holiday. Missed having some new ones for New Year. My friend uses Incredimail so I need different ones than her, but hers are amazing. Can’t you get some as good as theirs? But, still love your site. Have been using yours since the beginning.

So many phases of their life that would be great to have.
Playing the piano, cooking, men & women courting, parties, dances… and much more. It doesn’t end.

Because my new computer with Windows 7 has such dreadful Email capabilities, I must use my old XP computer to send Emails properly, but at some point that won’t be possible so please, please supply more stationery with music that Windows 7 won’t mangle in the process of sending.

You have such a huge variety of stationery…something for everyone in every category imaginable. Is the idea of the users sending in photos of things they would like to see made into stationery be a possibility? I don’t mean it would necessitate using the photo as is but just implementing some of what you see to create a stationery from it. Maybe you could select a variety of photos and call the collection
“Customers Ideas” or something along those lines.

I would love to see stationary with more animation added to it. Snow falling, leaves falling, rain, sunrises, animated animals, wildlife, animated holiday themes, such as Santa and reindeer on Christmas stationary. Flowers opening and closing for Spring, birds flying, Easter bunnies hopping and so forth.
Also, sentimental or uplifting messages or bible verses added to stationary would be wonderful.
I enjoy all your stationary and freebies! Thanks! 🙂

I also like the ‘Looking forward To Spring’ idea. I’d love to see a snowman with his somewhat-melted head fallen off and laying beside the other 2 standing snowballs. I know it sounds rather demented, but perhaps a witty remark (That I know TC can come up with !) would put some humor into the rather odd image of ‘Looking Forward To Spring!’

I’ve enjoyed your stationery for many years. However, the music on a lot of it is awful. I often have to turn off my speakers when using your stationery.
For something new- How about- What dreams are made of? For all of us that spend winters in cold/snowy weather, we dream about warm places like Hawaii, Mexico, Caribean, etc. Stationery with beautiful beaches, ocean, cruiseship, with appropriate music would be very heartwarming when you are freezing.

    G’day folks,
How about some Stationary based around other places of the world.
It relatively easy to find stuff for a wallpaper or screensaver, but it’s pretty hard to get stationary depicting various countries. You have plenty of collections for the USA, which is only natural, but nothing, or very little, of anywhere else.
I’d love to be able to add an Australian theme to my Cloudeight Stationary collection.

I too have loved your past stationery for years. I really hate thet MicroSoft had to go and ruin it w/Windows 7 & 8. I’ve notice a few people above have mentioned the “South” Since, I do live in the south (FL) how about a Tropical theme. Palms, egrets, beaches, Live oaks, Banyan Trees, Disney Scenes (not the Mouse) the actual scenes…like the monorail, the castles, Downtown Disney etc. But, please, please I want some palm frons

I myself am not a gourmet cook, however there are those whom are. There are alot of people that are food artist, culinary, maybe something in the line of gourmet cooking, for those that send e-mail to their friends. It could be part of a stationery for businesses. I read each and everyone of the comments and there are some great suggestions. I love your stationery and have been using it since 1998.. I receive your letters on tips and tricks for Windows and I love everything that you offer. You are very appreciated and please never forget that. EB and TC you are awesome in my book. How about something in abstract? It would have to be light enough for the fonts to show up in an e-mail. Although I like the fonts in white, I’ve found not everyone I e-mail can open stationery and if the fonts are white, they think they’ve received a blank e-mail.

How about some new wallpaper and some new screensavers, too?
