Sometimes it’s fun to take a break from the serious stuff and have a laugh or two. Maybe today’s post will give you a good strong dose of nostalgia as well — but only if you’re over 55 or so. So for those of you who are getting older you can relive a little bit of your childhood and remember the way things used to be through some of the best cartoons ever made — like Popeye, Woody Woodpecker, Batty Boop and others.

Take a ride on on our train to the past and watch some great cartoons. Take a break and maybe you’ll find yourself transported back to a simpler era, before the world got so impressed with itself.

The following is from MakeUseOf.com — we hope you enjoy your nostalgic visit to the golden era of cartoons.

Relive The Golden Age Of Animation With Free Vintage Cartoons [Stuff to Watch]

They just don’t make ‘em like they used to. Literally. The age-old technique of using hundreds of hand-drawn cels of animation to produce cartoons has long been replaced with more robust digital techniques. But like photographs shot on film and vinyl recordings, traditional animation retains that warm and rustic feel where even the imperfections are celebrated for their almost organic nature.

Thanks to the Internet Archive and Film Chest, there’s a small collection of vintage cartoons to trawl through featuring the likes of Popeye, Woody Woodpecker, and Betty Boop.

All Aboard! The locomotive is ready to take you back in time — enjoy your trip on the Cloudeight Railway.Visit this page to watch some cartoons from the past — and maybe it will bring back memories — “…misty water-color memories, of the way we were…”

Amazing! Truly, ‘everything’ IS on the internet! I remember Popeye cartoons better than the others. We didn’t even have a TV until I was school age, and then we were only allowed to watch it at certain times. My, how that has changed as well!

I have watched some and will watch the rest during the Day. Loved what I saw.

Sure brought back some memories! When the first TV’s came out, in our neighbourhood very few people had them so all the kids would end up at one person’s house to watch the TV. The quality was so poor but we loved it anyway.

This brought back some good memories!

When TV first came out very few people in our area had them so we’d all gather at someone’s house and enjoy an evening.

These brought back many great memories!
