Why You Really Need Malwarebytes
Windows all versions

First we’re not out to sell you something else. Second we’re not out to scare you.

We’ve written about Malwarebytes many times in this newsletter. But it’s time to write about it again. Malwarebytes is not an antispyware or an antivirus — it is an anti-malware program that dares call a spade a spade.

Since we started Cloudeight Direct Computer Care we’ve repaired hundreds of computers. And we’ve found that about one in every three computers is infected with some sort of malware. And these were computer that had updated antivirus and antispyware programs installed. There’s a gap that exists between antispyware and antivirus that is filled with gray software nebulously known as malware. Malware can be anything from “potentially unwanted programs” (PUPs) to rogue antivirus programs which pose as knights in shining armor but are nothing but nefarious software programs which extort money from users by finding non-existent threats and then offering to remove them if you pay the price. Of course it is really theft by deception and the victims throw their money away for nothing — but it goes on every day on the internet.

Antispyware and antivirus programs do a good job but when it comes to rogues or other unwanted software that can really gum up your computer and cause problems with your favorite programs, only Malwarebytes seems to get it right.

We’re recommending today that all of you download and scan your computer with Malwarebytes — the free edition is fine for running a quick scan. But we want to make it clear that Malwarebytes free only cleans out the malware that’s already infecting your computer — it does not provide real-time protection for your computer. Only the paid version does.

Malwarebytes is made by a company that’s not afraid to challenge the companies that make the garbage that makes your computer run poorly – and sometimes can expose your personal information and computer details to less than savory characters.

We know money is tight and we always try to find good, free alternatives to everything. But in the case of Malwarebytes we really think you should have the paid version installed. Using the paid version ensures a proactive rather than a reactive solution to malware threat we all face every day. And it’s ten times more likely you’re going to be dealing with a rogue antivirus program than you are with a virus.

We think purchasing the full, paid version of Malwarebytes is money well spent. With the paid version installed you’ll be protected in realtime from the growing malware threats we all face.

Malwarebytes runs right along side your antivirus and your antispyware and covers the gap that exists between them.

You can get the free version of Malwarebytes here. But remember it’s a reactive solution — it does not provide real-time protection, but it will scan your computer for malware and remove it from your computer.

You can get the paid version of Malwarebytes here. The paid version includes updates and real-time protection. Yes…we make a commission on each sale but that’s not why we’re featuring it. We believe with the way things are on the Web these days and the potential being so much greater that you’re going to run into a rogue antivirus sooner than later, you need it and we think it’s money well spent.

Great advice! It’s a small price to pay considering the extra protection MBAM provides.

But hey… aren’t you guys kinda doing yourselves out of a job! 🙂
