Windows 8 is available for sale today. If you want to download Windows 8 Professional, it will cost you $39.99 through January 31, 2013. If you want it shipped to you on DVD it’s $69.99. We suggest, if you have a fast internet connection, you download it and burn your own DVD and save $30.
If you’re using Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, you’re eligible for the upgrade. Please check with Microsoft’s Windows 8 site — if you’re using Vista or XP you will be able to keep your personal files but not your programs. So be sure to read that carefully. If you’re using Windows 7, you will be able to keep everything, including all your programs, provided they’re compatible with Windows 8.

If your PC is running Windows 7, your files, apps, and settings will easily transfer to Windows 8 Pro. If your PC is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, you will need to reinstall your apps. Well, it maybe Ok for tablets and the like with touch screens. For a start,I would be very reluctant to by a desktop touch screen PC, as one needs to sit more closely to the screen (Too Close) to be able to use with any comfort. I can see there will be more health related problems than what we have already, from staring at a normal screen. Anyway, who in their right mind would rush in and buy Windows 8 now,(For a PC) when they have openly said that it is not ready yet?? I’m not paying $39.99 for all their bugs, I’ll just wait and see!!
Upgrading from Vista should me much like upgrading from 7, but why does Microsoft insist on removing all applications from upgrades from Windows Vista to Windows 8?
