Windows Sorry

Technofile: Microsoft Windows loses count by design

Windows 10 comes after Windows 8. Don’t expect a “9” in the lineup. (Microsoft)

Microsoft wants you to forget Windows 8 ever existed. In fact, it can’t wait to get the next version of Windows, a vast improvement over Windows 8, onto your computer.
Expect the next version sometime next summer.

Yea!

Except for a little thing having to do with counting. Microsoft is so embarrassed about Windows 8 that it wants to strike the number 8 from its lexicon. No more “8” anything.

No more “9” anything either.

That’s right. The next version will be Windows 10. Goodbye, 8. Stay away, 9.
I realize you might think I’m kidding. I’m not. Microsoft has a lot of talented people. Unfortunately, they’re not the ones in charge.

This is silly, of course. Foolish, in an emperor’s-new-clothes way. Dumb. I know how to count and you do. Windows 8 will always be remembered as the Flintstones operating system.

Windows 8 has two terrible features: It’s lousy when used with a tablet and mind-numbing when used with a PC.

Add 2 to 8 and you get 10.

Sorry, Microsoft. There is no escape.

I have a much better idea. I remember stealing a pack of gum when I was a kid. My dad heard about it and told me I had only one thing to do: Go back to the store and give the guy behind the counter his money. And, of course, tell him why I was doing that. And apologize.

So I did.

Back to Microsoft. The next version should be called Windows Sorry.

Tell it like it is.

Good grief how many computers does micro-soft think we need to buy in order to get one as good as XP was ? Since there are alot of people still using XP should tell micro-soft something . Either people can’t afford to keep replacing or XP was just a down right good computer and people just won’t let go of it . I have 2 XP computers and will be having them fixed and retire this Win/7 piece of garbage .

I agree with you why didn’t they do right and up grade XP the best one I ever used. I got use to 7 but didn’t like it and wanted to buy a new computer with 7 from BEST Buy and guess what. Could not do. They only could sell 8 so guess what no second pc. I’m still using a piece of junk called a e-machine which my stupid tech bought. It was ok for what was needed as my husband needed something to play solitaire on due to illness but it had XP When he passed on I wanted to get another but no 7 so still trying to use it in case my main pc a HP got a virus. I’m 86 years of age and I just find it ashamed that you can’t get what you want. Well if I could it would be one more million they wouldn’t be able to earn. Well that’s my opinion.

I so agree with Charlene, I have a Windows 7 and I hate it, they should go back to doing one that worked as good and easy to use as Windows 7. I kept my “old” XP and do most of my work on it.

Charlene is correct. Stupid is as stupid does. The dated and often used phrase: “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” certainly applies to the Microsoft decision makers making it most difficult for the talented employees to stand by and watch inferior programs put on the production line . The powers that be should resurrect their winner – XP – and corner the market. Most thinking people are under the impression that a company’s goal is to ‘make money’ not lose it.

So what do we do now? Will Windowss 8.1 Upate 1 users be able to get Windows 10 as a free upgrade or will we have to buy it? I just got a Windows 8.1 and then had to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Update 1 within only seven months after getting it. I sure hope 10 is a free upgrade!

The best Windows OS was, as attested by millions of users, Windows XP.
Windows 7 is excellent and 8, we won’t bother typing more in front of it, so now can we expect better than Windows XP including Windows 7 in the mix.
We hope so, remove the P from XP, we have Windows X = 10.
    Pretzel logic is still logic.

i just love Windows 7. watched the 39min introduction to Windows 10 & apart from the occasional use of a split screen there is absolutely nothing on it that i have not got on Windows7. they said it was from beginners to advanced….they gotta be kidding! it’s a nightmare. let’s hope they keep updating W7 for as long as they did for XP. i am so very sorry for Cloudeight – i loved the stationery with the music behind it. as usual it’s all about greed. with quantum technology just around the corner & a motherboard in progress, in my opinion, everything we have will be obsolete in a few yrs anyway.
