What Is Your Favorite Web Mail Service?

What’s Your Favorite Web Mail?

Web mail is mostly a matter of personal choice.  Today, we’d like to know what your favorite Web mail service is.  Is it one of the big three or something else? Or maybe you don’t use Web mail at all! Let us know – vote for your favorite! Or vote for none.

PS: Web Mail is mail you access with a browser and not with an email program like Outlook Express, Windows Mail,  or Windows Live Mail. While you can access Web Mail with an email program,  the question is not what is your favorite email program, it’s “what is your favorite Web Mail service?”. Web Mail does not require any email program at all – it can be accessed with a browser.

I’ve used Gmail for years. As a matter of fact, I got my invitation through you guys, (yes folks, Gmail used to be by invite only, at first, lol), and was immediately in love.

I am using Thunderbird (the latest version) on my notebook computer (OS 7). It is good, but nothing I’ve used is as good as Outlook Express. Gee, I miss Outlook Express! 🙁

If you like Thunderbird, then you should also love Eudora Version 7 (but NOT Eudora OSE). I am but one of many still firmly entrenched on Eudora.

(The problerm with Eudora OSE, is that it it tossed out the best features of Eudora 7, and built a front end onto Thunderbird which was called Eudora OSE, and it is not supported by Thunderbird nor Eudora volunteers.

I love Outlook Express but of course can no longer use it. I like gmail but prefer Thunderbird now because it is closest in format to OE.

I like and use Gmail, but OE was my favorite by FAR!! Still, Gmail seems to work well and has none of the ads or junk that most other free email programs do. If only it would let me use stationery, it ‘could’ be my favorite!

I have to admit I’m still using my XP and Outlook Express is all I want to use. I tried gmail, my husband uses it, but I just can’t get away from OE. Isn’t there anything we can do to alert Microsoft that they had a great thing going with OE and ask why won’t they bring it back?

I have used roadrunner from TW for several years now and find it very easy to use. I also have a Gmail account but rarely use it. I do use my Live.com email now and then. I can send and receive roadrunner and live mail all on one page.

Have never got over loosing Outlook Express and have floundered around ever since trying to find something comparable with it. Would dearly love to run Windows Mail as I believe that it is as close as you will get to the above. Am 81 years of age and still have lots of grey areas so do not know how to install it on Windows 7 although I believe it can be done. Unfortunately finances in my case are a debilitating factor but who knows perhaps it will happen before I pop my clogs as I do miss Cloudeight stationery on my e-mails.

I loved outlook express & would not have bought window 7 unless I had to, knowing that they didn’t have outlook mail any longer! But will not buy windows again, it is not user friendly as far as i’m concerned. I hate this windows 7 computer! Will buy Apple when this goes out or I loose support for it. I had the 98, it crashed a lot, I liked the xp but got virus’s in it & the computer guys told me I needed to buy a new computer. It’s sure a mess getting a new computer & having to worry about getting an email address installed on the windows 7 computer. They need to have emails installed in the computer when you purchase it.

Further to my earlier comment, since going to Windows 7 on my computers I have changed from Microsoft Office to Softmaker Office Pro Suite, which takes the place of Microsoft Office very well and will read or write all the Office type files and it also has a very good email client included, which I now use exclusively. The only thing, it is not free at around a $100 for the complete office suite, but if you had an older version of Softmaker Office or Ashampoo Office you can up grade for around $35 .
I find the email client just as good to use as Outlook Express.
Below is a quote from Softmaker’s web site.
“Here is the best alternative to Outlook Express; Softmaker eM Client Pro 6
Supports all mail servers (IMAP, POP3, SMTP), including Google Mail, Microsoft Exchange, Hotmail, GMX and web.de (???)
Built in full text search, categories, global folders, mail rules
Tasks and events using local and Internet based calendars
Calendar sync with Google Calendar, Exchange, Hot mail and CalDAV
Manages your personal and business contacts
Synchronizes your contacts with Google Mail, Exchange and Hotmail”

Outlook Express was my favorite and I have really missed using stationery over the last few years. Today I use Time Warner Roadrunner only because we pay for its use and it is fine, but I also use Gmail-alot. It sort of grows on a person after awhile.

I do miss XP and OE but after a computer crash I did start using gmail as I could get there from any computer and that worked worked well for me. I miss not being able to use the OE wallpapers and all of the artsy stuff…I did XP computer themes and loved creating them! Microsoft stripped all of that away, I will never forgive them for that! I now have windows 7, there was no other choice, no way was I going to windows 8… But, who am I, not much I can do about it, is there! And that makes me not happy! Microsoft did not have to do that! They killed a zillion creators that were just having fun with themes…did they care? No! The themes were free to other folks that enjoyed them , they stomped on a lot of people there! Sad!

Outlook Express! It was the best thing Microsoft ever did along with XP.

I used OE on my XP for 8 years then went Win 7 and had to find something else. I have ended up using Optus Webmail developed by my service provider, not quite as good as OE, but good enough. I do have gmail but set it up just to receive my InfoAve newsletter after having a few blocked back in my OE days

I have been using Thundercloud.net for many years and would not want to change it for any other. It is brilliant. Try it once and you will not want to change.

I’ve used hotmail ever since I’ve had a computer. around 1984. It works fine for me. I only use it as an email service anyway. Also like gmail as well as Hotmail. And I have roadrunner which I seldom go to because not many know that address so I don’t have to clear out the junk very often. The trick is to not give out your email address to all these places that require it to get their service.

I have used GMAIL from the beginning of GMAIL. I didn’t like using my internet providers email because if I changed provider I would lose access to the email and have to start all over again. For a long time I used Thunderbird to download and read the messages, but after a couple of years and a lot of hard drive space used up, I decided quite downloading emails and use the cloud for the storage and it also lets me access my email form anywhere. I tag important emails that I want to keep and then every few months I run a filter on all others and delete them to keep my GMAIL account clean.

I chose gmail, which I also have had since it was new and by invitation. Now I have 3 gmail accounts, which are combined into my main inbox, but I’m still not crazy about it. Fifteen years ago, I would have said Yahoo, but they’ve been on such a downhill slide for years, I’m surprised they’re still there. Yahoo is now my junk mail account.

I use Gmail but only for two things, as a back up and I use it on my Tablet. I adored OE and so SAD they took it away!! I also loved Vista and so did my husband but when they both gave out we bought new computers that had windows 8 already installed. Hated windows 8 but got used to it, still a pain at times but work with it. Windows 8 also came with Outlook.com for my email program YUCK!!!! SO we both opted to buy and install Microsoft Office 365 ( I think it is ) and it came with an email program. Not perfect but does what I want so between the two OK But why everything has so many MORE steps to achieve what I did before is beyond me?

Also if emails goes WEB only WE WILL HATE THAT 🙁 Why are our choices being taken away? 🙁

Postbox, one payment forever version, (Pro)

Very similar to Outlook Express, two button setup automatically loads other mail server details.
Simple, straightforward, uncluttered interface mail server from USA.

I use this email program to collect mail from my ISP mail, gmail, gmx, Outlook, (Windows Live = Outlook), and Hotmail, have done for a couple of years and not one fault or defect occurred.

It has to be Gmail . I have never lost an e-mail and I never even worry about it . it works and I use it coupled with thunder bird and am also enjoying using stationary with Thunder bird it is fast in all areas ,and works a great deal like out look express , I can even make my own stationary and use it through the template section. I have only pulled two emails out of the spam box and am happy with it .
