A comment from Joyce
Thanks are not enough to
express how much you are appreciated, Darcy. You made my update to Windows 10 to
look and act jut like my Windows 7. When the request to move on to Windows 10
came out I was stubborn, my philosophy was, if it ain't broke don't fix it, so
I went kicking and screaming into changing over to Windows 10. So...by accident
I clicked on the download button by mistake and it downloaded. Needless to say,
I was not happy with myself for doing this. But Darcy came to my aid and she did
a great job with changing it and fast to my aid and fast and complete in
changing everything over for me. If you were closer I would give Darcy a
grandmotherly hug ( both of you) as you are so good at what you do and at a good
cost. Thanks.
A comment from Ron
I upgraded my laptop
and PC from Win 7 Pro to Win 10. Darcy finished the set up for me and they both
run like beautifully. Don’t miss this chance to get this new system set up the
way you like it and reduce the new system learning curve.
A
comment from Carrie
TC you are just awesome! You transferred my
files from my external files to my new pc plus made great adjustments . All with
the patience of an angel because of my slow internet speed. Have been with ya'll
since the beginning and darn glad of it. Kudos!!
A comment from
Dick
Today was a really rewarding experience with Darcy. I am one of
the older folks, 80 to be exact...I can operate a computer fine until something
goes wrong. Sort of like one of the modern day cars. Lets back up here a little
bit. About 6 months ago, I had purchased two Cloudeight Direct Repair keys.
Having a couple of PC problems and wanting Emsisoft on my computer I contacted
Cloudeight and Darcy contacted me back.
Through their system she took
control of my computer and started the repair business of taking all the bad
stuff out. All of a sudden my Wi-Fi went down and that ended my session with
Darcy. She told me when it was up and running again to contact her. Some medical
issues and 6 months later, I did today. Once again she connected to my computer.
She did not have me purchase new keys and was nice enough to use my old ones, as
we never did get to finish the session. What a nice treat that was.
Once
she started doing her magic all the bad things started dropping off my computer
like flies and when she was done she installed Emsisoft as my anti-virus program.
With us old folks, we can't keep things from breaking down and that includes our
own bodies. We have a doctor for those but we also need something for our
computers. That's where Cloudeight comes in. If you think that your computer is
always going to be malware or virus free, I have some swamp land to sell you.
Better yet, buy some keys from Cloudeight and relax, knowing your
problem is fixable. Another thing that's important here. How much fun do you
think its going to be unhooking all the wires and taking it to a computer repair
shop for them to charge you a few hundred dollars, then taking it home and
trying to hook all those wires up again. Or how about calling the GEEK squad and
having someone you don't know visit you and also charge a couple of hundred
dollars. Look here folks, don't hesitate...buy those Cloudeight Keys and be
ready for any computer problem. Once again, I am 80 years old and to be able to
sit back and relax, with a cup of coffee and let Darcy do her thing is really
wonderful.
My computer is just humming along now and I am so thankful
that Cloudeight, and especially Darcy is there for me. I highly recommend their
service and if they have any sales, in the future, on their Direct Computer
Repair Keys, I would hop onto them faster than the Easter Bunny can hide eggs.
This is one purchase that will pay you back many times over.
Thanks to Joyce, Ron, Carrie, Dick and all of you who wrote about the computer services
you received from Cloudeight Direct
Computer Care. We are so glad we've been able to help so
many people from Australia and New Zealand to Europe to North America.
If you need computer service we hope
you'll let us help you!

Nancy's computer came with Windows 8.1upgraded to Windows
10. What happens if she needs to reinstall Windows 10.
I don’t have
an installation DVD for my laptop I bought a couple years ago. It had windows 8.1
on it and I upgraded to windows 10. what happens in this case?
Our answer
Hi Nancy. Windows 10 comes with several recovery options
that won't reinstall Windows 8.1 but will reinstall Windows 10. Windows 10 Reset
offers you the option to remove all your programs and files, reinstall
Windows, and start over. You also have the option to use Windows 10 Reset and
keep your personal files. Whichever you choose, Windows 10 is reinstalled and
you don't need a DVD.
During the first 30 days after you upgrade to
Windows 10, you have the option to return to your previous operating system
without losing anything.
Factory Reset, provided by your computer
manufacturer will restore your computer to the exact condition it was in the day
you purchase it. This would take your computer back to 8.1 - but with all the
options you have with Windows 10, this would be your last choice.
We
recommend that you make your own Windows 10 installation DVD.
See this page to learn how. Additionally, if you have had Windows 10
previously installed on your computer – you won’t need a product key if you have
to reinstall Windows from the DVD. Also, the DVD can come in handy to boot your
computer with in case your computer won't start. You can boot from the DVD and
gain access to troubleshooting tools that can help you to fix computer problems.
Clifford has a Windows 10 problem no one seems to be able to fix
I transferred windows 10 from 8.1. I connect get it to load properly because my
server was slow, so I took it to Staples and the tech did not have any problems.
After several weeks the windows menu did not work. Click on the windows switch
an nothing happened. Took it back to Staples and the tech said that he would to
add another account to make it work. He did that and it worked. Several weeks
and the same thing happened. Took it to another tech at staples who fixed it and
when I hooked the computer up and got power and tried to click on the windows
switch and it did not work again. If I knew I was having this much problem, I
would have stayed with 8.1 Microsoft tech’s could not fix this problem. They
advised that I would to do clean install of Windows 10 and that erase all my
information and some programs. No one seems to know how to fix this problem. If
you google this problem, it gives you many fixes and a lot of people are having this
problem.
Our answer
Hi Clifford. We hope Staples
didn't charge you. Don't forget we offer computer repair services with our
Cloudeight Direct Computer Care
services and we can help with most computer repairs. We could have saved you
those trips to Staples.
After all you have been through at this point,
our advice is of you to do a
System Reset and choose to keep your personal files and folders. This will
reinstall Windows while keeping your documents, photos, music, contacts, videos,
etc. You’ll need to reinstall all of your desktop programs- Windows will give
you a list of what you’ll need to reinstall when the Reset is done. This should
fix your problems.
While it's true that some have had trouble with the
Windows 10 start menu not working we're talking thousands out of millions - a
very small percentage. Of course, if you're one of the thousand percentages do
not matter.
Here are the instructions on how to do a Windows 10 Reset while keeping your
personal files.
Geri installed Windows 10 but is not comfortable with the
Cloud
I installed Win 10 on my laptop shortly after Microsoft came
out with the offer. I still have upgraded my desktop that has Win 7. I love Win
7 a lot, but I thought I’ll learn the new system on my laptop first. I am not
really comfortable with 10 yet because I find it difficult to find things, also
not really familiar with this Cloud stuff, but I’m trying – my 78 yr. old brain
wants to know what is all this stuff I’m pushing thru.
Our answer
Hi Geri, you really don’t have to use the Cloud stuff just because you’re using
Windows 10. If you want it to be, Windows 10 can be cloud-integrated. Personally,
we both use OneDrive (in Windows 10) to back up some of our files. However, you
can choose not to use OneDrive or any Cloud features.
We offer a
Windows 10 customization
service, if you’re interested, designed to make your Windows 10 computer
work and look more like Windows 7. If you’re interested,
you can learn more about that
here.
Penny has a question about our Cloudeight Direct remote
computer repair service
If I purchase a “key” what process is
required for you to work on my computer? Is an appointment time set up for a contact –
is the initial contact by phone or on line? What if my computer won’t boot up?
Just wanting to understand this before I buy a key.
Our answer
Hi Penny. When you purchase a
Cloudeight Direct Computer Care repair key, your filled order will have a
link to a form to fill out and request a session and we will schedule you. To
connect for your scheduled session, we send you an email with a link to click
that connects you with us so we can work on your computer. You will have to be
able to turn on your computer, check email and open a browser in order for us to
connect for a session. If your computer will not boot up, we cannot connect. We
encourage everyone to be sure they have a backup of their system and a boot disk
in case of a serious problem that prevents their computer from booting into
windows.
Direct care keys do not expire and are valid until you actually
use them.
Jane wants to know if she can have two browsers installed
Can I have two browsers on my PC?
Our answer
Hi Jane. You can have as many browsers as you want, within reason. We
have Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge installed on our
Windows 10 computers. The only caveat is, you can only have one default browser,
but you can install and use as many browsers as you like.
Allen wants to know how to tell if his motherboard is failing
Hi guys. How can I tell if my motherboard is failing. My computers been acting
strangely lately, like files disappearing, random shut down, etc. I'm due for a
new computer but wondered how to tell if my motherboard is shot and if it is can
I replace it?
Our answer
Hi Allen. The motherboard is
the part of your computer that everything plugs into, and it connects all the
components to each other. It is also referred to as the mainboard. Whatever you
call it, it's the heart and soul of your computer.
You can replace a
motherboard, but it's not something most inexperience users would want to
attempt. Plus, replacing a motherboard is probably going to cost you more then a
new computer, so if you think you have a failing motherboard, back up all
personal files if you have not already, and get ready to go shopping. We have
seen computers with Windows 10, 500GB hard drive and 4 GB of RAM for $250 or
less. The main causes of motherboard failure are: voltage spikes (often seen
with power outages or lightning strikes), fan failure which allows motherboard
to overheat and basically "fry" the system, dust and smoke, dropping, and
spilled liquids.
Here are some of the signs of a failing motherboard:
1. The most common symptom is random shutdowns or restarts with no explanation.
Don't confuse windows updates that oftentimes initiate a restart, and keep in
mind a virus can cause unexplained shutdowns as well. If it is an older computer
and you have noticed the fan seems to be running much more then it used to, it
may be only a bad fan.
2. Sounds. Unusual sounds coming from the inside
of your computer could be the motherboard, or it could be the fan. The fan keeps
the motherboard cool, much like a fan keeps a car engine cool. If the fan is
failing, the system can overheat. If a system overheats, it shuts down.
3. You turn on your computer and it seems dead - no lights, no fan sounds, no
power. Keep in mind this could also be a bad power button, or you are not
plugged in, or a bad power supply.
4. You click the power button to turn
on the computer, and it starts up and shuts down before it even gets booted into
windows.
5. If you see smoke, or odd burnt smells, it is probably a
fried system. Unplug it and go shopping for a new computer.
As you can
probably tell by now, determining if you have a bad motherboard is complex as
most of the symptoms are also symptoms of other things. And it is sometimes not
possible - or very difficult - to self-diagnose a failing motherboard. If
you can open computer and look inside, and see if any of the capacitors are
bulging or blown, you can know for sure, but if you have to ask what a
capacitor is, this is not going to be an option for you. A good rule of thumb
is this - if the computer is more then a four or five years old, it is probably
cheaper to just replace it vs. bringing it to a computer repair shop, leaving it
for a week or two, and paying for diagnostics and repair.
Identify Annoying Audio from Web Pages
Chrome,
Firefox and Edge Users
Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows
10
Many sites, especially news sites, have delayed auto-start
videos (or audio ads) on their pages. When surfing multiple pages, you
may suddenly hear the audio, but finding which page it is on meant going
through each open tab; sometimes I have 15 or 20 open tabs! I was
complaining to TC the other day about the blaring sound from videos/ads
and how I had to go through several open tabs to find the culprit. He
causally says "look for the sound icon" and you can tell which tab it is
coming from; as if everyone but I knew this! Sure enough... I looked a
little closer and there it was! Its super tiny, but its visible and
while I don't see it available on Internet Explorer, it is on both
Chrome and Edge. Below are screenshots of Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers with
open tabs to show you where the sound icon is located on the tab and
what it looks like. Thanks
TC! Even old dogs can learn new tricks!
Chrome Browser (on the
right side of the tab, next to the "x" below):
Firefox is almost exactly the same as Chrome, see?
Edge Browser (on the left side of the tab
here):
Sorry, Internet Explorer fans, you'll never
know which tab is annoying you with sound unless you manually check each
tab.
Can you see your mouse
pointer?
Windows 10
I don't want to sound old
(EB is old too), but lately I've been moving my mouse around and I can't see my
darn mouse pointer. Most pages web pages have white or very light backgrounds, so why is my mouse pointer white? You're no spring chicken either,
Mr. Bill Gates! Just because all the geeks you hire are twenty-something does
not mean you don't have old codgers like me using Windows.
If you're like
me and you find it hard to locate your mouse pointer sometimes, we're going to
show you how to make your mouse pointer bigger and blacker so you can actually
see it with moving it around to find it.
It's so easy to do. Click on
your Start button and click "Settings" (you can also open Settings by using the
Windows Key + I shortcut. I - like the pronoun). Then click on Ease of Access.
In the Ease of Access menu (above) click on "Mouse".
You can change your pointer from white to black or black to white or black and
white -- and you can make the pointer, small, medium or large. Above you
can see under Pointer size I chose the largest size, and under Pointer color I
choose black.
I got tired of hunting for my tiny white mouse pointer, and
now I'm happy because I can actually find it very easily. See?

Quick Windows 10 Power
Tip
Windows 10
Go to your Windows 10 desktop ( if you're not there now you can get
there quickly by pressing Windows Key + D). Now press the ALT + F4 keys.
What do your bloodshot eyes behold? A Windows Shutdown (restart, switch
user, log off, etc.) dialog that you've probably never seen before. At
least EB and I have never seen it. We stumble on stuff like this while
playing around with possible tips.
Anyway, when your on the Windows 10 desktop, press the ALT + F4 keys and
you'll see this:
You can shut down, sign out, sleep (not you, your computer), switch
user, or restart. All you have to do is ALT + F4 from the Windows 10
desktop.
Now you can look like a power user. Amaze your friends :-)
Three great tips for Windows 7
Windows 7 all
versions
We've received many emails from Windows 7 users asking
us not to forget them. We haven't forgotten you - in fact in every
newsletter we usually have several tips that work in Windows 10, as well
as in Windows 8x and Windows 7. But just so you know we are not
abandoning those of you who are using Windows 7, here are some tips just
for you.
1.Managing Your Windows
Windows 7 makes managing your program windows and documents easier by
allowing you to “dock” a window or change its size with a simple move of
the mouse or a single keystroke. To dock your window on one half of the
screen, drag it to the left or right and it will change size to fit half
of the screen. To alter the vertical size of a window, drag the window
to the top to maximize it, or simply double-click the window’s top or
bottom border to maximize it vertically while keeping its width the
same. Play around with windows on Windows 7 - it is much easier to
manage your program windows and documents in Windows 7 than in previous
versions of Windows.
2. Sticky Notes are a Windows 7 feature
Of all the freeware we feature, whenever we feature a sticky notes
program, we always get a lot of response from readers. It seems a lot of
people love sticky notes program. Apparently enough people love them
that Microsoft actually heard them and built a sticky notes program into
Windows 7. And Windows 7 Sticky Notes are pretty good too, as good as
some of the ones you can download for XP and Vista. You can choose any
of 7 colors and if you're in the middle of typing a sticky note and you
need to create another one, just click the plus (+) sign at the left-top
corner of the note you're creating. To access Windows 7 Sticky Notes -
click Start and type StikyNot.exe in the search area of the start menu,
or click Start / All Programs / Accessories / Sticky Notes.
3.Windows 7 helps you reduce clutter
Previous versions of Windows seemed to have a haphazard way of
cluttering up the desktop with windows behind windows behind windows -
all behind the active window. Windows 7 allows you to get rid of all
those windows behind your active window by pressing the Windows Key plus
the Home Key, this minimizes all inactive windows. If you want them all
back again, just press the Windows Key and the Home Key again.
Will my favorite programs run on Windows 10??
Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
We get dozens of
emails each week asking if a certain software program or hardware device
will work on Windows 10. You know, questions like, “Will my PhotoStamp &
Greeting Card Creator ’95 run on Windows 10?" As much as we’d like to
tell you we know everything, we don’t. Boo hoo :( (You're thinking that
perhaps EB does, but, alas, not even she knows everything.) We’d really
like to help everyone of you and answer every one of your questions
about Windows 10, but we can’t possibly know every program that will run
on Windows 10. There are hundreds of thousands – maybe even millions of
programs – and there are only two of us.
But don’t worry, we
found a place you can go and get your questions answered – and it’s a
place created by the folks who should know everything there is to know
about Windows and Windows 10 – and that would be Microsoft. Indeed, if
they don’t know the answer then we don’t know who does. Right? Right!!
We bet that many of you never heard of the Windows Compatibility
Center or WCC as we like to call it..
Without further rambling, yammering or blabber, we take you live to
Microsoft for the following information — we skimmed this stuff from the
Windows Compatibility Center page::
"What is the
Windows Compatibility Center? What is the Windows Compatibility Center?
The Windows Compatibility Center lists thousands
of the most popular apps and devices to help you easily identify what
will or won’t work with various versions of Windows. You can use the
site to get links to driver downloads and software updates, as well as
view what other users have to say about product compatibility.
Can I get downloads for drivers and software updates on Windows?
Yes, on a results page, click anywhere on the product listing to bring
up a product details page
How is the product compatibility
determined?
To determine product compatibility status for the
Windows Compatibility Center, we consider the following:
The
product has passed Windows certification requirements and received a
logo, which indicates it has met Microsoft testing requirements for
compatibility with either Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1,
Windows 8, Windows RT and/or Windows 7.
The app publisher or
device manufacturer stated this products works with Windows 10, Windows
8.1, Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8, Windows RT and/or Windows 7. Please note
that these products have not undergone certification tests and may or
may not be fully supported by the manufacturer. You should visit the
manufacturer’s website for more information.
Windows 8.1 is
designed with compatibility in mind. If an app or device ran on Windows
8, our goal is that it should run on Windows 8.1. During Windows
development, we test most of the popular products and we are providing
compatibility statements based on this testing. For products we have not
tested, compatibility statements for Windows 8.1 are being provided
based on the product’s compatibility status for Windows 8.
We
also take your feedback into account and make updates accordingly so
don’t forget to vote. Since compatibility status can change, please
check back for updates.
We use four different icons so you can
identify a product’s compatibility status with Windows.
The
“Compatible” icon means the product is expected to work with Windows 10,
Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8, Windows RT and/or Windows 7.
Usually, you won’t need to do anything to ensure compatibility, and
you’ll see “No action required” below “Compatible” on the product’s
detail page. However, if a manufacturer or publisher offers a newer
version or extra software is required, you’ll find an additional link to
the publisher’s website.
The
“Action recommended” icon indicates that you may need a solution to
ensure that a product will work properly with Windows. Often a free
upgrade is available, but some publishers may require a fee-based
upgrade to the newest version. In either case, below “Action
recommended” you’ll find a link to what you need.
The
“Not compatible” icon means the product is not compatible, or is not
expected to work with Windows. You can try these compatibility
troubleshooting steps or visit the Microsoft Community to get additional
help and tips from the community.
The
“No info” icon means we are working to confirm whether or not this
product works with Windows. We update information frequently, so check
back soon. In the meantime, these options are available:
Try these
compatibility troubleshooting tips.
Ask
questions and get answers from Microsoft and the community.
...Windows certification means this product passed Microsoft
testing requirements and is compatible with 32-bit, 64-bit, or ARM-based
versions of Windows. To use the certification logo, the product must
pass Microsoft tests for installation, performance, reliability, and
security...."
And there’s a lot more info on that page and there’s a search form you
can use to search for your favorite program to see if it’s compatible
with Windows 10.
And don't forget, you can also check with the software developer to
learn more about program compatibility.
Snap to it! Windows 10’s Snap Feature
Windows 10
With Windows 10’s Snap feature you can snap up to four windows on the same
screen/desktop. You can work in each window while the others stay in view. You
might say…why would I want to do this? Well, think about it for minute. We think
you’ll find Windows Snap handy for a lot of things.
When you snap a window to one side of the desktop, on the other side you’ll
see the open Windows you could snap to the that side of your desktop. Above you
can see we have a Windows File Explorer window snapped to the right side of our
desktop. Look on the left, and you’ll see 3 thumbnails. We can snap any one of
these windows to the left side of the screen and next to the snapped window on
the right.
If you have ever needed to drag a folder or a file from one
drive/directory to another, it makes it a lot easier if you have two file
explorer windows open side by side in front of you. You can drag files & folders
from one directory/drive to another with ease when you can see what you’re
doing.
See? Look up! As an example (above) we show you how we can copy/move a video
from the “Pictures” folder (on the right) to any other folder on this computer –
or any other drive on this computer by simply dragging it from the File Explorer
windows on the right to the File Explorer window on left - or from the window on
the left to the window on the right. It’s a “snap” to copy/move files if you
know how to snap windows. Snap to it, EB! When I snap my fingers I expect you to
get busy or bring me a beer!
So how do you do this Windows magic? It’s
easy, but it does take some practice.
Your can snap any window,
up/down/right/left by dragging the window until it snaps (the harder way), or
you can use the Windows Key + the Arrow Keys (the easy-peasy way!)
Try
it. You might need to play around with it before you get the hang of it, but
once you learn it, you’ll use it a lot – especially for moving or copying files
from one folder to another or working in two windows, when you need to keep both
windows on the screen. And if you want to work in three or four windows? No
problem. You can snap up to four windows on your screen with Windows 10's snap
feature.
And don't confuse Windows' Snap feature with another useful feature: Virtual
desktop. Snap is different than virtual desktops.
You can learn more about virtual desktops here.
OK snap to it & learn
to do it!

I was looking at smart phones
the other day - thinking maybe it's time to get rid of my old flip phone. Not
flip flops! But it is almost that time of the year for everyone who does not
have toenail fungus - if you do, skip the flip flops. Please.
Anyway, while I was looking at
all the smart phone choices, I got an idea that I know is going to make me rich.
I'm sure of it. I've always been an idea man, but I've never had an idea that
made me rich. I want to be like the guy who sewed sleeves on a blanket, called
it a "Snuggie" and made $572.4 million.
So anyway, I was looking phones
when this great idea popped into my head and I wanted to tell you about it.
But first I want give you a little background just in case you don't know
much about the new fancy cell phones. Expensive cell phones are called "Smart
Phones", but since I don't like that term, I call them fancy phones. There are
so many kinds of these fancy phones available these days, and they really can do
much more than just make phone calls. Things like selecting just the right
gigolo in Buenos Aires, or making reservations for one at a "Gentleman's Club"
in Madrid, or telling you what street the local ice cream man is on and exactly
how long it will take until he gets to your house, or how many of your Facebook
"friends" have just written something really profound on your page. Or even give
you directions to the nearest cemetery if you're looking a little quiet time.
As for me? I can imagine sitting on bus in Borneo, slouching down in my seat
so as to avoid the infamous Wild Man, and ordering flowers for my dear mother
just by pushing a few buttons on a device hardly any larger than a pack of
cigarettes. I don't know if my mother would be impressed that I ordered her
flowers while scrunching down in a seat on a bus in Borneo while hiding from the
Wild Man, but I sure would be if someone sent me flowers. Heck, I'd be impressed
if someone picked up an old rotary-dial telephone while sitting at the kitchen
table in a shabby apartment in Circleville, Iowa and ordered me flowers. To be
totally candid, I'd be happy if some kid gave me a dandelion. I never get
flowers - maybe because I'm a guy?
Where have all the flowers gone?

Foto-Mosaik-Edda
Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10
Portable version 1.2
MB
Windows Installer 1.3 MB
What is it? A photo editor that creates photo
mosaics from any folder of pictures.
Free and commercial versions available
Before we go on, the site lists Windows 7 and Windows 8 but not Windows 10. This
is just a matter of them not updating their download page. It works perfectly in
Windows 10 as well as in Windows 7 and Windows 8.x . We tested it on a Windows
10 computer. OK now that's out of the way.
Every time EB posts her picture somewhere she's
got this fly-away bouffant hair-do that makes her look more like a rodeo
princess ready for a little post-rodeo line dancing than it does the hard-nosed
corporate executive she is (I could hardly type that!). Lucky for EB, from now
on she can obfuscate some of her countrified look by making a photo mosaic of
herself and passing it off as some sort of artistic endeavor that took her hours
to make, but only took her about ten minutes because EB knows the secret and
until now, none of you did.
Foto-Mosaik-Edda (which is a funny name
because it reminds me of those rapper dudes with names like "Twista" and
"Gangsta" and that sort of thing) is a photo editor which has one purpose only -
to create photo mosaics quickly and easily from a single folder full of photos.
It's really easy to use and creates some really nice mosaics which you can see
an example of below or more examples by visiting the gallery.
First - we do test this stuff, see?
Here. You want to see what we look like? Take a gander. That's old TC on the
right and EB, in her new Easter dress, on the left. We had to blur the
mosaic as we want to be able to walk into a restaurant and be served.
Another mosaic.
About this time in the freeware pick article, I like to give you
all a break from my droning and call in the program's author. So that's what I'm
going to do. Author, take it away. Tell our readers about your program, please?
"... Foto-Mosaik-Edda is software which allows you to create photo mosaic
pictures from your own computer. A photo mosaic picture is made up of tiny
photos which are fitted together in such a way that, from a distance, they blend
together to create the appearance of a new picture.
To create a photo
mosaic picture, you can use digital photos from your collection, for example
from your last vacation or family get-together. Foto-Mosaik-Edda analyses the
photos and then adds them to one or more databases from which they are drawn to
create your photo mosaic.
The Foto-Mosaik-Edda assistant guides you
through the process, making the creation of your photo mosaic picture child’s
play. Your friends will be astounded by this extraordinary effect.
Try it
out!"
Yes, he's or she's right; you need to try it. Amaze your friends, startle your
enemies, make enemies of your friends, make friends of your enemies, make EB
feel like a city slicker! You can create amazing photo mosaics with ease when
you download and use our amazing freeware pick - Foto-Mosaik-Edda.
Read all about it or download it from here.
What is Bitcoin?
Well
folks, we had to dig out an explanation that gets to the point. Bitcoin
is a virtual currency. It allows you to pay anonymously - and more and
more retailers are starting to accept Bitcoin as payment for goods and
services -- including Overstock.com.
We're going to call in an expert to
explain Bitcoin, because we're just now catching up with it. So we're
not experts - but thanks to Gizmodo, we can give you all a better idea
of what Bitcoin is. You're going to be hearing more and more about
Bitcoin in the coming weeks as more and more online retailer get on
board with Bitcoin.
The following is from Gizmodo...
"...Bitcoin is an anonymous digital currency...
Bitcoin is not
real money. It's an online "currency"—virtual tokens that can be
exchanged for goods and services at places that accept it, the same way
you'd give someone a dollar for a cookie. But unlike a dollar, a Bitcoin
has no serial number or any possible mechanism that could be used to
trace it back to a buyer or seller. This makes it attractive to drug
dealers and/or privacy advocates.
...with mega aspirations...
In
their YouTube manifesto, Bitcoin's creators say they're going to
revolutionize global finance the way the web changed publishing. So!
Kind of a lofty goal, aiming to be a global currency up there with (or
replacing) the dollar. Right now, that's still the pipiest of pipe
dreams.
...and no central authority...
Aside from the
software developers who work on new versions of the code that underpins
Bitcoin, there's no Central Bitcoin Bank—no virtual Federal Reserve.
Bitcoins are backed by no one and nothing and completely unregulated.
....that's exchanged via P2P...
When you write your
friend a check, money from your account is withdrawn from your bank, and
then transferred to her bank, and then she withdraws it as cash (maybe).
With Bitcoin, there are no middlemen (other than the users that comprise
the network itself). Money goes straight from you to whomever, through
the Bitcoin P2P system, with no intermediary agency passing along the
chips..."
Basically Bitcoin is digital currency that gives you a
another way to pay for products and services online - although the number of
legitimate sites that allow you to use Bitcoin are limited. It has been use
predominately by those who want to buy things online without being able to be
traced. We speculate that Bitcoin will become more and more mainstream over
time. We're just guessing, I tells ya!
We are speculators, EB! Like those old 49ers.
